When the publisher asked me to make an arrangement of an ABBA tune, S.O.S. was the first song I thought of. Its introduction and melody are well suited to play for Wind Band. Admittedly, the key had to be shifted to make it sound good for this instrumentation. To me, this is nostalgia, while for others, the Mamma Mia movie/show will be what they associate with this wonderful song. Apart from a few medleys, few of ABBA's songs are available to Wind Band. So, it was very fun to work on this classic.The arrangement is made quite simply to fit many sizes of Bands. Technically, it is also relatively simple both in range and rhythm. As you can see, there are many ways to adjust this arrangement to your own ensemble. Bring out melody lines and the bassline, and a lot is done. A good tune with almost a sing-along guarantee from the audience.This arrangement in the Young Band series is suitable for many bands as the instrumentation is limited in its demand to number of instruments. In the same series several ABBA items are available, and this piece can be programmed alongside other ABBA songs from the same series.This arrangement is similar to the original in form. The semiquavers in the tuba part may be omitted as they also are covered in the euphonium part.

Candy for Beginners is a suite of three songs used by the composer with the youngest beginners throughout several years. The method is to sing the melodies before learning it on the instruments. Lyrics about candy has proven to be very popular among the youngsters.... In English it can goes like this: "Candy floss, candy floss, candy floss, candy floss, oh yeah". And: "Soda for me, give me soda for free". And: "Lefse, it is good, lefse, now you should, Lefse, give me one, lefse, sure is fun." The composer urges the band to find their own lyrics to the melodies, making it their own with a local twist. This is a good rhythmic exercise for the young players

'Christmas Colours' is a palette consisting of several Christmas songs. Bruce Fraser has mainly used the colours green (the colour of holly) and white (the colour of snow). This composition begins with the chiming of festive bells - if you listen well, however, you can already hear short fragments from 'The Holly and the Ivy', whose entire melody is finally played, alternated with 'The Sussex Carol'. After this, the pace slows down and the stately 'See amid the Winter Snow' sounds, but parts from 'Jingle Bells' and 'Silent Night' can also be heard. Then, after walking under 'The Holly and the Ivy' once again, the celebration of Christmas may begin!
