    We Three Gypsy Kings

Duration: 4:00 Minutes Percussion: 4 PlayersTimpani, Drum Kit, Tambourine, Bongos and XylophoneAll Rights ReservedProgramme NotesThis is a true storyI had a dream…..The three wise men were looking for the baby Jesus to give him their gifts. This was done somewhat in the manner of the scene of Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’. The search was not successful – Sir Alan Sugar (‘The 'Apprentice’) made an appearance ordering the three wise men to “get off my land”. Meanwhile, the baby Jesus slept peacefully on, unaware of the nearby disturbance. Bizarrely, this dream sequence was played out at high speed, as in the closing scene from each episode of ‘The Benny Hill Show’ of the 1970s.My arrangement attempts to portray this comical caper.Jock McKenzieJock McKenzie studied trumpet at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester where he was a joint recipient of the college’s concerto prize. Since 1987 Jock has based his musical career in Hampshire, working as a freelance trumpeter, conductor, composer, arranger and brass teacher. Currently Jock holds the position of Professional Leader (Brass) for Hampshire Music Service and is the Director of the Hampshire County Youth Band. It is the mix of all of these musical roles that has led to Jock establishing a reputation as a leading creator of brass music resources, particularly in the field of education and brass ensemble music.Duration: 4:00 Minutes Percussion: 4 PlayersTimpani, Drum Kit, Tambourine, Bongos and Xylophone All Rights Reserved Programme NotesThis is a true storyI had a dream…..The three wise men were looking for the baby Jesus to give him their gifts. GOD ONLY KNOWS (Flugel feature/Brass Band) - Baker, Leigh

Recorded in 1966 as a part of the Beach Boys' landmarkPet Soundsalbum, this ballad has become a prime example of Brian Wilson's innovative approach to songwriting and recording. Hailed for its formal and harmonic complexities as well as a memorable hook, "God Only Knows" has remained popular through the years, and was featured prominently in the biographical film Love & Mercyabout the life of Brian Wilson. This Beach Boys Classic is arranged as a Flugel Solo, and features a Trombone Quartet (spotlight your 'sectret' Trombonist or use a Baritone/Valve Trombone soloist from your Euphonium/Baritone Team.Commissioned by The Leland Band for their Brass in Concert performance 2012 this is a real favourite with audiences and something a little bit different. This is ripe for Choreography.
