A reflective piece featuring two cornets and band but also playable as a solo for cornet, trombone or euphonium. Song of Peace was written just after a close friend died suddenly. Heroic Etude (Trombone Solo with Brass Band) Rob Wiffin

Back in the day I always enjoyed playing the well-known trombone works by Alexandre Guilmant and Ferdinand David and I wanted to return to that type of language and writing in a short concert piece. The music is direct in its expression, mostly exciting but sometimes lyrical. The pace of this etude is relentless and requires some deft double tonguing although I stayed away from too many running semiquavers. The last note should ideally be the high D (concert) but a B flat is indicated as a suitable alternative.Duration: Approx. 3.40 minutesDifficulty Level: Band: Medium / Soloist: AdvancedThis PDF download includes the full score and parts.Sheet music available at www.brassband.co.uk (UK) or https://satradecentral.org (USA)

Peter and the Wolf (Brass Band, Narrator & Soloist) Prokofiev arr. Duncan Wilson

In 1936, Sergei Prokofiev was commissioned by Natalya Sats and the Central Children's Theatre in Moscow to write a musical symphony for children. Drawing from various sources, he created Peter and the Wolf, a work designed to introduce young audiences to the instruments of the orchestra. Prokofiev conducted both the Moscow premiere in May 1936 and the first English-language performance in Boston in 1938.In this adaptation for brass band, Duncan Wilson has abridged the original 25-minute score into a concert-friendly 18-minute version. All core material and principal themes remain intact. While the full band represents the character of Peter, the arrangement suggests seating the four other main characters (Bird, Duck, Cat, and Grandfather) slightly apart from the main ensemble. To enhance the performance, players may choose to develop their characters using costumes and accessories. To view a rolling score video please visit https://youtu.be/l8aXh-LiWb4Duration: approx. 18 minutesDifficulty Level: 2nd Section +This PDF download includes the full score and parts.Sheet music available at www.brassband.co.uk (UK) or https://satradecentral.org (USA)Instrumentation NotesThe Cat: Written for baritone, though bands may substitute a euphonium if preferred. Diversions on Sine Nomine (Brass Band) Vaughan Williams arr. Mark Ford

Diversions on Sine Nomine is a substantial concert work for brass band, derived entirely from Ralph Vaughan Williams' celebrated hymn tune For All the Saints. Rather than a conventional set of variations, the work unfolds as a sequence of contrasting diversions, each reimagining aspects of the melody's character, harmony, and rhythmic potential. The opening establishes the noble and timeless quality of Sine Nomine before leading into episodes that explore a wide expressive range - from reflective and lyrical writing to passages of rhythmic energy and grandeur. Fragments of the hymn are continually transformed and re-contextualised, allowing the music to progress with clarity and purpose while maintaining a strong sense of structural coherence.Scored specifically with 3rd and 4th Section bands in mind, the work combines musical substance with practical playability. Idiomatic brass writing, transparent textures, and effective use of traditional band colours ensure musical impact without excessive technical demand. The final section brings the work to a broad and affirmative conclusion, reaffirming the dignity and enduring strength of Vaughan Williams' original melody. To view a rolling score video of the work please visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sth69ate-CsDuration: 11.00 minutesDifficulty Level: 4th Section +This PDF download includes the full score and parts.Sheet music available at www.brassband.co.uk (UK) or https://satradecentral.org(USA)Instrumentation:Soprano Cornet EbSolo Cornet 1&2 BbSolo Cornet 3&4 BbRepiano Cornet Bb2nd Cornet Bb3rd Cornet BbFlugel Horn BbSolo Horn Eb1st Horn Eb2nd Horn Eb1st Baritone Bb2nd Baritone Bb1st Trombone Bb2nd Trombone BbBass TromboneEuphonium BbBass EbBass BbTimpaniPercussion 1-2Tuned Percussion
