From performing a simple melody to the most complex of test-pieces, they bring brilliance to the music. I had no hesitation in giving A Little Prayer to Robert Childs to bring this little melody to life through brass." I was glad was originally a choral introit which is a popular piece in the musical repertoire of the Anglican church. It is traditionally sung in the Church of England as an anthem at the coronation of the British monarch, most recently that of King Charles III in May 2023. This transcription for brass band combines the choral and accompaniment parts meaning it is playable as a standalone arrangement. An optional organ part is included to augment the brass. The cornet section is divided into two choirs to create an antiphonal effect. The 'Vivats' are included in this transcription but an optional cut is provided for that section. VIEW SCORE PDF This trumpet solo was written by Nick Simmons-Smith at the request of Dallas Brass Band for a Christmas concert featuring Elmer Churampi, international trumpet soloist. The solo features three Christmas songs: i. Mi Burrito Sabanero voy camino de Belen (With my donkey of the Savannah, I'm going to Bethlehem) ii. Noche de paz (Silent night) iii. Campana Sobre Campana (Bell above bells, O bells of Bethlehem) These songs are all very popular in Central and South America - including Peru, where Elmer Churampi is originally from. Each tune has been given a different Latin treatment producing a fast-slow-fast festive concert solo. The solo is not long, but each movement could be played individually. The composer and musician Trygve Hoff was born and raised at Rognan in Nordland and gained a lot of inspiration for his texts from the North Norwegian culture. He is a composer and copywriter of many of our most popular songs. "Ei hand a holde i" and "Har en drom" with music by Svein Gundersen and especially his own "North Norwegian Christmas Psalm" are famous songs in Norway. "Lullaby in advent" may not be among his most famous songs, but it's a beautiful and thoughtful melody that will fit well with any Christmas concert. Hoff himself varied with musical styles on this song. This arrangement is written as a jazz-version with swing feel.

Isaac Watts (1674-1748) wrote the lyrics of "There is a land of pure delight" and is known as the "Father of English Hymnody". Watts was for the English hymn as Ambrose was for the medieval Latin hymn and what Martin Luther was for the German chorale. He wrote about 750 songs, and some of them survide the ravahes of time. (Joy To The World, When I survey the wondrous cross, I sing the Mighty Power of God) "There is a Land of Pure Delight" is usually in English-speaking areas sung on Luther Orlando Emerson's melody ('Ascription'). Here is used a traditional English melody ('Mendip'). There is a land of pure delight Wheresaints immortal Reign. Infinite day excludes the night, And pleasures banish pain.
