The traditional Welsh tune of Crugybar is most commonly associated with words by Howell Elvet Lewis which appear in the Baptist Hymn Book of 1962; 'The light of the morning is breaking, the shadows are passing away'. The Salvation Army Song Book of 1986 lists two further hymns that can be sung to the tune; 'I stand all bewildered with wonder and gaze on the ocean of love' ( W F Crafts) and 'When Jesus from Calvary called me, unfolding its meaning to me' (Will J Brand). This arrangement was made for Martyn Bryant, the long-serving principal cornetist of Bristol Easton Band of The Salvation Army.

The work Prevision has been composed in a free fantasy form. Deep in thought the composer sketches his prevision - the development of his small grandson growing up to be an adult. After a brilliant introduction, a slow march follows, which symbolises the first steps toward adulthood. Aspects such as love and a sense of security, that are indispensable for a positive development, are presented in a calm middle section, after which an energetic closing part refers to the rebelliousness of an adolescent. The grand finale of Prevision expresses the grandfather's and composer's positive picture of the future. 10:30

Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5 is arguably his best known and most loved composition. The Adagietto from that symphony, often performed on its own, is scored for strings and harp only and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful tunes ever written. It is marked sehr langsam (very slow) and is immensely serene and tranquil, often performed at commemorative events such as the concert following the events of September 11th, 2001. It has been said that the movement is a love song to the composer's wife, Alma. The symphony was composed in 1901 and 1902 and this movement received its British premiere in 1909 at a Promenade concert directed by Henry Wood. The Adagietto received additional popularity when used in the 1971 film Death In Venice. This arrangement by Keith M. Wilkinson shortens the movement slightly and now gives brass bands the opportunity to programme this delightful work. A part of their collaborative album Barcelona, it also appeared on Queen's Greatest Hits III. Originally released in 1987, it was one of the biggest hits of Mercury's solo career, reaching number eight in the UK singles chart. After Mercury's death in 1991, it was featured at the 1992 Summer Olympics. The single was re-issued on 20 July 1992, after which the track climbed even higher, peaking at number two in the UK, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
