Arranged for brass band by by Lynda Nicholson The Golden Carol is a traditional Old English Christmas Carol. The words tell of the Three Kings following the Star to Bethlehem to see Jesus on Christmas morning. The tune is anonymous, but has a medieval feel, similar to other carols, such as I Saw three Ships. The Golden Carol begins in a 5/4 jazz waltz rhythm with a solo Eb Bass being joined a few bars later by by a solo trombone then a solo horn, before more instruments (including percussion) are added and the tune plays out in the cornets and soprano cornet. The second section goes into 4/4 with a strong Rock/Big Band feel driven along rhythmically by the kit drummer. This section then leads to a rousing close for the full band. Originally written for the solo horn player of the Wingates Band, Dreamer, composed by Lucy Pankhurst, is a lovely, wistfully calm solo for Eb Tenor Horn Solo and brass band in this aptly entitled piece.It exudes tranquility, filling the air with positive sounds, sympathetic accompaniment, and musical shapes in the scoring which enable the soloist and band to demonstrate how the beauty of music is shown through quiet control.A very emotive piece with lots of musicality to enjoy - a real 'ahhhhhh moment' item for your concert programme.

£54.00Far Eastern Dream - Paul Voet
The longest trip we make is to the Far East. Japan, China, Tibet,... all countries with an enormous cultural background and history. Percussion is very important here to give a rich dimension to this Japanese 'Black Bamboo' theme. Tam-tam, Chinese cymbals, Tibetan gong and a kododrum (if not possible, large floor tom) together with marimba and glockenspiel are used all the time in a carefulway. A solo cornet presents the main theme that is answered by the whole lower brass section. While this theme develops now and then the sounds of the impressive 'dung' is heard. (dung is the Tibetan very large trumpet-like instrument with loud and very deep sounds) In a quicker tempo Eb bass, euphonium and solo cornet start with the theme and even the counter theme. The whole group joins the party but everything ends very silently with mute.

Trumpet Tune and Air - Clarke, Purcell - Len Jenkins
Wobbleco Music is pleased to offer a new arrangement of the famous 'Trumpet Tune in D' for full brass band featuring a soprano cornet solo. The tune is often attributed to Henry Purcell, but in fact was the result of a joint musical production by Jeremiah Clarke and Daniel Purcell (Henry Purcell's younger brother), hence the confusion. For bands that do not have a soprano cornet player, we also include an alternative solo part written for Bb cornet. To complement this, we also include a soprano cornet part in Eb, for use when the band has a soprano player but who is not the featured soloist. Recognising its popularity for weddings and special occasions, where a full band may be impractical for space or availability reasons, we have also produced a quintet edition, which is available as a separate publication from Wobbleco Music.

Apophenia - Peter Meechan
aApophenia is the experience of seeing patterns or connections in random or meaningless data.aApophenia is a trumpet concerto in three movements written for American trumpet virtuoso Rex Richardson. Each of the three movements features a different instrument; Movement 1 is for the Bb trumpet, the second is for flugel horn and trumpet, and the third is for trumpet and piccolo trumpet.Each of the three movements of Apophenia relate to the phenomenon of viewing Dark Side of the Rainbow - a name used to refer to the act of listening to the 1973 Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon whilst watching the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, where moments where the film and the album appear to correspond with each other.Movement 1 is a fast a furious movement. Solo and ensemble interact at high tempo, swapping and creating new ideas, leading each other in new directions. Aside from the trumpet soloist, the kit player also acts as a quasi soloist.The second movement takes its musical inspiration from the Pink Floyd song Us and Them. It is during this segment of the film that some of the most amazing moments of connection happen.The final movement is a dance - and a tour de force for the soloist who begins on the Bb trumpet, before switching to the piccolo trumpet (or Eb trumpet) for the fast and furious finale. Many of the coincidences from Dark Side of the Rainbow relate to dancing, however, as long as a piece of music is the same tempo as the original, and the time signature is a regular one, this could be the case across most films. So the composer chose to write a dance that wouldn't synchronise to too many existing dance scenes!The soloist is free to improvise their own cadenza.Apophenia is dedicated to Rex Richardson.
