The Muppets certainly need no introduction and their take upon the famous Charles Dickens classic novel was of course, a huge success. Released in 1992, the film was the first from the Muppets to be created following the death of their creator Jim Henson and fellow puppeteer, Richard Hunt. Now, arranged by David Hollings, the fun filled overture from the movie is now available for brass band for the first time. A welcome addition to a festive programme for bands that are looking for something different this Christmas.

£42.00Silent Night. Franz Gruber arranged for brass band by Andrew Duncan
Silent Night is an Austrian Christmas Carol written by Franz Gruber, (1787-1863). Franz Gruber was an primary school teacher, organist and composer who lived in the village of Arndorf in Austria. Silent Night (Stille Nacht) has become one of the best loved Christmas Carols ever written. This arrangement for brass band imagines Christmas morning in a small Austrian village, such as Arndorf, with the sound of the local church bells ringing out along with the sound of a choir singing Silent Night accompanied by the local band.. The arrangement features the tubular bells playing a simple descending scale, which is also played by muted cornets (2nd and 3rd cornets). After 2 verses of the hymn the coda features a short trombone trio with a jazzy feel which leads into a final scale from the tubular bells and cornets bringing the piece to a peaceful close. £40.99Christmas Day (Brass Band) Gustav Holst arr. Philip Rayment
VIEW SCORE PDF Well-known English composer, Gustav Holst (1874-1934) wrote this choral fantasy in 1910, about five years before his renowned orchestral suite, The Planets. The piece was originally composed for SATB choir and orchestra and dedicated to the students of Morley College, where Holst taught music. In the years since, it has been arranged for various combinations of voice and/or instruments. This arrangement is in the original key and could be adapted for use with choir and/or organ. Christmas Day features three carols in their entirety: Good Christian Men, Rejoice; God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen and Come, Ye Lofty, Come, Ye Lowly (an old Breton melody). There are also references to The First Nowell. Although well-received initially, this work (like many of Holst's) was neglected for many years and has not been widely recorded. It is hoped that it will be useful for brass bands during the festive season, particularly in a large acoustic. £42.00The Golden Carol. Arranged for brass band by Lynda Nicholson
Arranged for brass band by by Lynda Nicholson The Golden Carol is a traditional Old English Christmas Carol. The words tell of the Three Kings following the Star to Bethlehem to see Jesus on Christmas morning. The tune is anonymous, but has a medieval feel, similar to other carols, such as I Saw three Ships. The Golden Carol begins in a 5/4 jazz waltz rhythm with a solo Eb Bass being joined a few bars later by by a solo trombone then a solo horn, before more instruments (including percussion) are added and the tune plays out in the cornets and soprano cornet. The second section goes into 4/4 with a strong Rock/Big Band feel driven along rhythmically by the kit drummer. This section then leads to a rousing close for the full band.
