New Horizons - Max Stannard
This composition was originally written for the Horwich RMI Band to commemorate the life of Matthew Densfield, who has a drummer in his school brass band before his passing at an early age. This is a lively and energetic concert opener which encapsulates Matthew's love of live and rhythm as a drummer. This would be an excellent opener for your next concert and suitable for most bands from 4th to championship section to play. Duration: 3 minutes.

Andante Cantabile (from the String Quartet No. 1 in D major) - Tchaikovsky - Barry Strickle
The string quartet No.1 in D Maj was the first of three composed by Tchaikovsky. The melancholic Andante cantabile movement of the quartet has become famous, and was founded on a folk-song the composer heard whistled by a house painter. When the quartet was performed at a tribute concert to Leo Tolstoy, the author was said to have been brought to tears by this movement. Now arranged by Barry Strickle for full Brass Band, this is a perfect piece for any occasion or concert.

Winner of 'Best new Composition or Arrangement' at Brass In Concert some years ago, this stunning arrangement is now finally available to all bands. The work was performed as part of Whitburn band's Brass in Concert programme and saw the arranger, Dr Peter Meechan take the Cyril Beere Memorial Trophy for this clever take on the Queen classic rock hit. The arrangement has been in great demand but has not been published, until now. What better way to open a Christmas concert than a fanfare piece based around arguably, the most famous Christmas carol ever written. In an arrangement for band based on an idea by Bill Cumming, there is plenty of majesty heard throughout this fanfare which refers to Jingle Bells throughout. Although the melody we all know is never fully allowed to be heard, the fanfare teases the listener, alluding to the things later to come throughout the rest of the concert.

On Cloud Nine is a wonderful new concert opener; a vivacious four-minute concert item full of energy and good humour. It begins with a majestic fanfare-like statement. This opening melodic idea re-appears in various forms throughout the piece. The following themes are sometimes a little quirky with fantastic band parts for all players to enjoy. The piece is meant to convey a deep sense of joy which bubbles relentlessly to the surface no matter what else threatens to dampen it. The music is overwhelmingly optimistic in spirit and fun to play as well as listen to.

'So Amazing', is a beautiful new hymn tune arrangement from the pen of Welsh Composer Jonathan Mead. The music would create a lovely moment in a concert, where the audience would have time for reflection. The title comes from the words that are often associated with this tune, 'Love so amazing, so divine,'. The tune used, is also well known in the brass band world as, 'The Water is wide'. Sailor's Hymn - Amber Hooton
Sailor's Hymn depicts a scene of sailors preparing to depart from the port of Liverpool, looking out over the docks as the Blue Peter flag flies,beckoning the sailors aboard to begin their long journey. It is a piece about saying goodbye to what was once familiar, moving on and pushing towards new horizons.This piece was written for a cultural exchange between brass and wind bands from St Helens (Valley Brass Band) and Normandy (Harmonie Courselles Sur Mer), culminating in a massed bands concert in Normandy during April 2024. The piece was one of several arrangements and original compositions written especially for the exchange, supported by grants from the Victoria Wood Foundation and Johnson Foundation. The concert celebrated the local cultures of Merseyside and Normandy, as well as the wider national cultures of the United Kingdom and France.
