With the world reaching crisis, we open with a reminder that the world has suffered in recent years from some of the most raging destruction of our plants and animal life, from wildfires. With the time left becoming smaller and smaller with each day passing, the piece reminds us next of the 'Tolling Bell of Extinction' before the conclusion takes us to a place all too familiar - the present - where with action and with a 'Call for Change', we can hopefully make a difference to our future, our children's future, and save our planet from devastation, from decimation, from extinction! Jingle Bells Forever is a setting of two American favourites that weaves the melodic line from Pierpont's Jingle Bells with Sousa's umistakable march style. Drawn from The Stars and Stripes Forever, Sousa's immortal march that has become the official national march of the United States of America, the familiar strains provide the perfect accompaniment for the most festive of Christmas melodies. Sousa's famous grandioso with the piccolo descant (here scored for soprano cornet) and trombone countermelody draw this festive standard to a rousing conclusion. The Nutcracker, for many, has become a must-see event every Christmas, often the principle of Christmas traditions that has been passed down for generations. The original ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), which premiered in 1892 was not received with the critical acclaim that befitted such as masterpiece, so he wrote two suites based on the music, and the popularity of the ballet soared, although Tchaikovsky would regrettably not live to witness the success. This arrangement loosely interprets five of the most well-known themes from the ballet in a quasi-jazz setting: March, Waltz of the flowers, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Dance of the Mirlitons and Trepak. Fanfare Prelude on 'Richmond' was written for the inaugural Texas Brass Fest, held at Round Top Festival Institute on 27 May 2023, for the four premier brass bands in Texas - Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio Brass Bands. It is based on the much loved hymn of the church by Charles Wesley, which is also known as 'O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing', the first verse of which reads: O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace! For maximum effect it is suggested that cornets and trombones are staged stood around the band, although if this is not possible then traditional band formation will be acceptable. £33.35Miserere mei, Deus (Brass Band) Gregorio Allegri arr. Espen Haukas
Miserere mei, Deus was composed by the Italian composer Gregorio Allegri (1582-1652) during the 1630s for use in the Sistine Chapel during matins, as part of the exclusive Tenebrae service on Wednesday and Friday of the Holy Week. The Miserere is written for two choirs, one of five and one of four voices, and is generally accepted to be one of the finest examples of Renaissance polyphony to survive to the present day. Tutti choirs sing a simple version of the original Miserere chant; one voice then, spatially separated, sings an ornamented "commentary" on this. The comment-part is left out in this arrangement due to its meaning with text, though monotonous in tune. The introduction is added by the arranger to set the right atmosphere before the original chant is played. The brass choirs are meant to be placed opposite each other in a church or large hall.
