This song was written in 1931 by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt with lyrics by Gus Kahn. It's now one of the most popular songs from the Great American Songbook and it's also recorded in many versions. Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole are among the most famous ones that have recorded it. In later years singers like Michael Buble, Diana Krall land Robin Williams have all recorded "Dream a Little Dream of Me". This arrangement is inspired by the version by American band Chicago from their 1995 album release "Night & Day".

The source of inspiration for this composition was the so-called 'genetic code'. Something which is universal, as almost all organisms on our planet use the same code for their genetic information and therefore speak the same 'language', as it were. The fact that plants, animals, and humans are all subject to the universality of this code fascinates the composer time and time again. Thus, he has chosen a musical motif for this phenomenon, which has been woven through the various musical passages of this work like a genetic thread.Genetic Code was commissioned by the Swiss Brass Band Association to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Brass Band Championships, in 2025, and to be the compulsory piece in the Excellence Division that same year.

Three Gentle Giantswas commissioned by Grenland International Brass Festival as a test piece for the 2nd division in 2008.Three Gentle Giants. The three giants each have their own monologue which leads into a conversation. They gather recognition and respect from each others views as the dialogue evolves. Eventually they find a more nutual and singular expression to their conversation.The giants are old with a long life behind them. This can be heard through a slow, melancholic waltz. A waltz is dance commonly linked to festiveoccasions, such as weddings, but for the giants it holds much more significance. It gives room to think about people they have met, placesthey have been, and all that life has given them.Quietly it ends, more or less like it began. £59.99Old Hundredth - Louis Bourgeois - Philip Sparke
The tune Old Hundredth is one of the best-known melodies in all Christian musical traditions and first appeared in the 1551 psalter "Pseaumes Octante Trois de David", where it is used as a setting for a version of Psalm 134; it is usually attributed to the French composer Louis Bourgeois (c.1510 - c.1560). The melody was then used in 1561 by the Scots clergyman, William Kethe in Sternhold and Hopkins' Psalter for his paraphrase of Psalm 100 - All People that on Earth do Dwell, which is still the most familiar hymn sung to this noble tune. When Tate and Brady's "New Version of the Psalms" was published in 1696, the melody became know as the 'old' version - henceits current title. This arrangement presents three contrasting verses and is effective as a concert piece as well as an instrumental interlude as part of a church service or wedding.

A school band always has a goal, and achieving goals together, without reserves, is priceless. High ambitions and a common will to improve are recognizable in many school bands. In my opinion Skodvin Skulemusikk got these values: unity, affiliation, effort and ambition.The piece portrays the echo that rings in the hall before the applause after a concert. The echo in the hallways during breaks, or in the rehearsal room during rehearsal. The echo, or consequence, of all the work that is done by both musicians and parents. The echo of a unity and belonging that can last a lifetime.

Evolution was commissioned by Kunstfactor for the 4th section of the Dutch National Brass Band Championships (NBK) 2011. It is dedicated to Jappie Dijkstra and the Music Information Centre (MUI), Arnhem, Holland, in acknowledgement of their outstanding work in developing brass band repertoire. The composer writes:-The idea for the piece came when I was reading an article about a branch of Chinese philosophy which is abbreviated as Wu Xing, which has no exact translation but can mean, for example, five elements, five phases or five states of change. It is central to all elements of Chinese thought, including science, philosophy, medicine and astrology, and in simpleterms tries to create various cyclic relationships between five elements in all walks of life. An example is: Earth - Metal - Water - Wood - Fire - (Earth) etc. where (in one cycle) earth bears metal, metal changes to liquid (water) when heated, water helps trees grow, wood burns to create fire, fire produces ash (earth) and the cycle continues.I was particularly interested in the cycle of emotions: Meditation - Sorrow - Fear - Anger - Joy - (Meditation) etc. and thought this cyclic principle would provide an effective emotional journey for a piece of music. So Evolution has five equal sections which loosely characterise this emotional cycle. I have tried to make the music grow organically, with minimal repetition, and each movement evolves from the musical elements at the end of the previous one, with the opening material appearing, transformed, at the end of the piece to complete the cycle.

Everybody is familiar with the zoo. Remember all those animals? Big ones, small ones. Water dwellers, air-bound birds, long legged hoppers, creeping bugs. All animals seem to have their own peculiarities. Now, Carl Wittrock (who also composed the world-famous master piece 'Lord Tullamore') invites you to join him in a musical exploration of the animal kingdom. An invitation you must not reject! In his 'A view at the Zoo', Wittrock presents ten distinctly different animals as compositions of music. You may be familiar with some of those animals, such as the white swan or the butterfly, but there are also more exotic breeds, like the lion, the monkey, or theelephant. The composition as a whole is built around a structure of shorter fragments reminiscent of 'The Paintings Exhibition' by Moussorgsky. The parts are decorated with recognizable illustrations of the different animals. At each composition, Wittrock looks for something that can fascinate both musicians and listeners. In this he succeeded extremely well.
