£30.00Three Pieces from Czechoslovakia - Leos Janacek
This is the music of Leos Janacek (1854-1928) - exciting, powerful, emotive, impassioned, unpredictable, and many other definitions all rolled into one! Janacek was little known in Britain until the 1960's, when the conductor Charles Macherras introduced his unique music and opera to the western audience. His orchestral Sinfonietta was an instant hit. Janacek has since been one of the featured composers in the 'Proms'.The three pieces which I have arranged for brass band are INTRODUCTION, ORGAN SOLO and INTRADA from Janacek's Glagolitic Mass. They work equally well together or on their own, as they each have their own identity. They can be purchased together or separately.1. INTRODUCTIONA great 'starter' for the first or second half of a concert. 2. ORGAN SOLOThis is a 'must' if you want to impress your audience - every section of the band is incredibly busy, (although they can be assured that they do have time to breath)! 3. INTRADAThis piece, (and no.1 "Introduction"), both contain that 'fanfare' like quality which Janacek is famous for in his Sinfonietta.

Another Worlds Hell was commissioned in versions for brass, wind and fanfare bands by the Societe Cantonale des Musiques Vaudoises and the Association Cantonale des Musiques Neuchateloises for the 2013 Swiss Cantonales festivals. It is inspired by a passage in Aldous Huxleys classic 1932 science-fiction novel Brave New World, which describes in unusually close detail the music that is being played at a dance. This is Dobsons interpretation of the imagined future music that Huxley dreamed of. Suitable for 1st Section Bands and above. Duration: 13.00

DURATION: 2'30. DIFFICULTY: 2nd+. 'Intrada for Brass Band' was composed for my great friends at Orskog Brass, Norwayin celebration of their 50th anniversary. The work is a short celebratory fanfare used to open their anniversary concert, making use of antiphonal cornet choirs and marimba (with which the band had only recently been able to source, hence it's inclusion!).

Salute (Bra) - Stijn Aertgeerts
'Salute' is written for conductor Nico Meylemans and the Royal Fanfare Band 'Moed & Volharding' from Heist -op-den -Berg (B). The work commemorates all war victims from Heist-op-den-Berg who died during World War I. The salute is a sign of respect for the fallen, the famous 'Last Post' theme is also incorporated into the piece.

Furthermore we're told in Philippians 2:10-11 that one day 'every knee will bow...and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord'. This arrangement celebrates Jesus' heavenly coronation, bringing together two well-known hymns inviting us to crown Jesus as King.No. 2163 Telling It! Occasion was published especially for the National Youth Brass Band Championship of Great Britain, held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, on 4th October, 1986.Occasion for Brass Band is in four movements: Fanfare, Festivities, Elegy and Dance. The opening Fanfare was originally written as a Wedding Fanfare for Paul and Hazel Patterson in 1981, while the Elegy and Dance were commissioned as a test-piece for the first Westsound/Ayrshire Invitation Contest in 1982 for the leading bands in Scotland. Festivities was therefore written last, to complete the work and give it its essentially 'festive' character. Except for the Elegy, which is contemplative, the music throughout is extrovert and joyful. The opening Fanfare may be performed separately - of the Fanfare may be left out entirely, making the work a three movement Suite.Duration: 11 minutes
