£35.00Trumpet Shall Sound, The - G. F, Handel arr. Phillip Littlemore
Along with the Hallelujah Chorus, the bass aria (and mini trumpet concerto) The Trumpet Shall Sound is one of the most recognisable movements from Handel's Messiah, which was composed in 1741 and received it's premiere in Dublin a year later. Written in three parts, the The Trumpet Shall Sound appears in the middle of the third and final part.The aria is rarely performed 'live' with the full repeat, as it is a particularly taxing part for the trumpet player. £35.43The Lord Bless You and Keep You (Brass Band) John Rutter arr. Andrew Wainwright
John Rutter's popular choral benediction is based on Numbers 6:24-26, and has here been arranged for brass band by Andrew Wainwright. It is a setting of a biblical benediction, followed by an extended 'Amen'. Rutter originally scored the piece for four vocal parts (SATB) and organ. He composed it in 1981 for the memorial service of Edward T. Chapman, the director of music at Highgate School, London, with whom he had studied when he attended the school. The arrangement sounds a semi-tone down from the original choral setting although otherwise maintains the same format, so can be performed with choir if they sing down a semi-tone. The work celebrates the band's short but rich history, with a particular focus on the determination it has shown, like so many bands around the world, to continue its tradition of musical excellence despite the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic that led to an extended hiatus in music making. Tuba Concerto - Ralph Vaughan Williams
Ralph Vaughan Williams' Tuba Concerto was written in 1953/4 in response to an invitation to compose a work for the Golden Jubilee of the London Symphony Orchestra. Vaughan Williams was by then in his eighty-second year. The lively, outer movements both conclude with extended cadenzas, while the beautifully lyrical Romanza is Vaughan Williams at his best.
