Pachelbango - Pachelbel - Ed Keeley
Pachelbel's most famous work as you've never heard it before. This arrangements features all sections of the band and gives them a chance to shine making the piece perfect for both concert or contest venues. Pachelbel's Canon in D is one of the most famous pieces of classical music of all time. Simply written for 3 violins and a cello, the music is basically 8 bars repeated 28 times. Mostly unforgotten until the 1970s it has become one of the most recorded pieces and used at more than 90% of all weddings as an introit. This arrangement has reset the Canon into a Latin-American tango style, pushing it into a new accessible groove and will bring a smile to your audiences & players. The Water Is Wide This arrangement of the folk song "The Water Is Wide" also known as "O Waly, Waly" has been given a more modern touch. The opening features a solo flugle horn and Eb horn duet which flows into a more modern pop feel. TriumphantThis is a bright concert march in a traditional style and should pose no problems for the majority of bands.The first half of the march moves between the related keys of A min and C majThe march starts with a bold opening 2 bar statement in A min. At B the rhythm from the middle of the band should not be allowed to slow the pace of the march. C sees a majestic bass melody from Baritones downwards moving to D where a repeat of the original theme is presented before moving to the TRIO section. This moves between the related keys of F maj and D min. The melody heard at E is repeated at G with a florid counter-melody heard from 1st Baritone and Euphonium leading to the finish.

Festive Intrada - Bill Willis
FESTIVE INTRADAThis is a lively opener using the well know Christmas tunes of Silent Night and O Come, All Ye FaithfulAfter a bright opening, Silent Night comes in at letter B from Solo Cornets and Soprano followed by the Horns and back to the Cornets. This leads into a brief reference to O Come, All Ye Faithful from the Trombones before the full tune appears at letter C. Care with the syncopated rhythms to ensure the momentum is maintained. As the piece concludes, Silent Night returns, with a bar of Deck the Halls thrown in for good measure leading to a bright ending.

Suo Gan - Traditional - Max Stannard
Suo Gan is a traditional Welsh lullaby which was written by an anonymous composer. The song features in Steven Spielberg's 1987 film, Empire of the Sun, where a young Christian Bale lip syncs to a performance by James Rainbird. The song has been recorded by great Welsh singers including Charlotte Church and Bryn Terfel. This solo gives a flexible option of any of your Bb instrumentalists in the band taking on the lead part of this beautiful tune.

Aberystwyth - Joseph Parry - Ed Keeley
This arrangement is based on the famous Welsh hymn tune Aberystwyth by Joseph Parry. Composed in the late nineteenth century whilst Parry was Professor of Music at Aberystwyth University. The tune is a powerful example of the expressive style of Welsh chapel music.Most widely known today as the setting for Charles Wesley's hymn "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," the melody is notable for its haunting minor key, sweeping phrases and dramatic climax. These qualities translate naturally to the warm, resonant and warm timbre of the brass band.This setting seeks to capture both the solemn dignity and emotional depth of the original tune. Rich harmonic textures and the sonorous colours of the brass band highlight the melody's expressive contours, building towards a broad and noble climax while preserving the reflective and haunting character of the hymn.

Baking Day - Naomi Styles
Baking Day is a fast, foot-tapping duet which will challenge your Euphonium and Eb bass players. It also features 'kitchen percussion' - the percussion section is invited to raid the kitchen for things that thud and clang, although parts for ordinary instruments are provided! There are opportunities for your percussion section to ad-lib in the middle section between E and F, to show off their capabilities. There are also places where banter between conductor and players can take place, making this a fun-filled entertainment piece that both shows off your duetists' talents and raises a smile.This work forms part of a series inspired by Christopher Lloyd's book 'What on earth Evolved?' which ranks the species that have had the biggest impact on the history of Earth and humankind. The series thus makes up a modern 'Carnival of the Animals'. Baking Day celebrates Yeast, a microscopic fungus which brings us bread, buns, wine, Marmite and even biofuel.
