Prelude & Mazurka - Delibes - Barry Strickle
The ballet "Coppelia" was first premiered in May 1870, unfortunately its successful run was interrupted by the Franco-Prussian war. Thankfully, the ballet still went on to become the most performed opera at the Opera Garnier in Paris. The ballet brought Delibes his first taste of success, encouraging him to carry on to other great works such as Lakeme, and Le Corsaire. Arranged by Barry Strickle, the Prelude and Mazurka from Coppelia will be instantly recognizable to most, and features regularly on Classic FM.

John Williams returned to the Star Wars franchise to compose music for Episode VII - The Force Awakens. With the European Championships this Summer, the England football team's biggest ever anthem is a great feel good piece to get your audiences in the mood. With lyrics written by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, the music was composed by the rock band the Lightning Seeds. It was originally released back in 1996 to mark 'Euro 96' which was hosted in England. This iconic theme is the perfect addition to any programme during a major football competition and is instantly recognisable as one of the most popular pieces of all time. The most well-known of carols, set to William Kirkpatrick's melody, 'Cradle Song' first appeared in the late nineteenth century. It is known the world over and synonymous with the sounds of children singing this gentle, lyrical song. Arranged here as a flugel solo with warm harmonies and accompaniments from the band, this is a great addition to any Christmas concert programme.

"Fort Drake" was composed specially for the British Bandsman March Composition Contest. The title is a respectful parody of a well-known march cited as a model in the contest regulations. Originally just a working title, it was later accepted for its suggestion of unyielding strength and durability. Written to appeal to bands and audiences alike, the piece has striking melodies, a smooth trio section and exciting phrases featured in all instruments.
