Shackleton's Cross - Howard Goodall
Shackleton s Cross was inspired by a painting created in 1957 by the English artist Edward Seago (1910 1974). The title refers to a cross which was erected to the memory of Sir Ernest Shackleton, who led a number of explorations to the Antarctic. Shackleton died in 1922 whilst on a Polar expedition, and the cross can be found on a promontory at the entrance to the bay at Grytviken Whaling Station in South Georgia. The painting is owned by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and was part of an exhibition at Buckingham Palace from October 2011 to April 2012.Originally scored for oboe, trumpet and small orchestra, Daniel Hall s sensitive arrangement for trumpet or cornet and brass band follows the composer s alternative version for solo trumpet and organ, created for Crispian Steele-Perkins (trumpet) and David Goode (organ).

£39.95Panic on Pudding Lane - Jonathan Bates
DURATION: 5 minutes. DIFFICULTY: Championship. Panic on Pudding Lane was composed for the 2016 RNCM Festival of Brass, for the Black Dyke Band and Prof. Nicholas Childs. The work was composed to mark the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London in 1666. Following the frantic panicking, and hustle and bustle of the emergency service vehicles, a moment of reflection and tranquility is found in the core of the work, with a feature for Soprano Cornet and Flugelhorn in a section that almost pleads and mourns over the damage and devastation which surrounds them, as they stand amongst the burning rubble and debris (enhanced by a CD sound effect backing track). Whilst this section proves to be the calming point of the piece, the chaos and destruction is still never far from the ear, with distant echoes of sirens in the background towards the section's close. . Panic once again returns as the piece builds to a chaotic and driving close, with a huge sweeping recapitulation of the 'London's Burning' motif taking the lead before a wild,dischordant and frenzied finale brings the work to it's end. .

Stormseye (Bra) - Stijn Aertgeerts
With 'Stormseye', the composer describes the passing of a storm. The calm joyful opening by the cornets reflects the open blue sky. The weather very quickly turns as the music clearly becomes more and more chaotic. The storm gains momentum and the band also becomes more and more tempestuous. The solos in the flugelhorn, cornet and euphonium, among others, reflect a moment of tranquillity, with a growing anxiety about what is to come. The quietness of the eye of the storm before all hell breaks loose again. The music then builds to a grand finale that combines the opening theme with the storm's thematic material. The storm is overcome and the sky clears completely! 'Stormseye' was written as a test piece for the B division of the 'Flemish Open Brass Band Championship' 2024 in Mechelen (B).

...Your Own Tale? (Bra) - Lode Violet
After winning the 1st prize at the Conservatory in Brussels with his arrangement of 'Die Post', Lode decided to write an original work for Brass Band Willebroek and dedicated this to the band and his father Frans Violet. The work begins with a soft, dreamy cornet introduction that develops into a lyrical melody. After a short spell with the baritone a second theme comes to life. Dialogues between several instruments brings the composition to it's climax, and the euphonium and flugel bring rest again. The title '... Your own Tale?' refers to the imagination of the listener, as everyone creates their own story.

Stealing Apples - Fats Waller - Reid Gilje
"Stealing Apples" is an old swing-tune written by Fats Waller. Performances by Benny Goodman and his big band made the song very popular.In this arrangement for brass band, the mallet percussion is very essential. Mallet Percussion presents the melody from letter A and is also featured as soli-instruments from letter L to P. These parts can alternatively be played as vibraphone solo.Please be aware of the balance at letter A. Horn and Trombones must play piano but well articulated. Letter D must sound sparkling and fresh with articulated and powerful trombones and cornets (using straight-mute).Make shue that the 8th-notes are not played too dotted two bars before letter G. Almost even 8th-notes accentuated on the start of the slur is a good tip.Watch the balance at letter H. This part have to sound homogeniously.The soloistic Soprano Cornet at letter Q must be played in the style of Benny Goodan. The accompaniment must not be too powerful from letter R to S. Best of luck with the performance!

Song of Hope is dedicated to my good friend Ryan Anthony (principal trumpet with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra) and his charity, Cancer Blows - a foundation set up to raise awareness and money to further the research that has helped give their family a hope for a future following Ryanas diagnosis of Multiple MyelomaUpon hearing the middle movement (simply titled aSonga) of my cornet concerto, Milestone, Ryan asked me if I could change the end from its current reflective ending to something more uplifting, and to title it Song of Hope, giving it much more meaning than I could have ever imagined.As well as a wind band scoring without soloist, Song of Hope exists with 1, 2 or 3 soloists, accompanied by either wind band, brass band, brass ensemble or symphony orchestra.For my friend Ryan.Each set comes with the soloist part for 1 soloist. La Fiesta - Corea, C - Harper, P
Chick Corea is an American pianist and composer of Sicilian and Spanish descent, whose long career in jazz music continues to this day. A member of Miles Davis's band in the 1960s, he formed his own band Return to Forever in the 1970s before establishing himself as one of the greats of modern jazz.La Fiesta was composed in 1972 and included on Return to Forever's debut album. The music is in one-in-a-bar waltz time and switches between Latin carnival-style and jazz waltz, with stand-up solos for cornet, baritone and tenor horn. A Christmas Trifle is a fantasy for brass band based on the famous English Carol, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. The piece begins very lively before changing to a more jazzy style with a walking bass. This is followed by a jazz-waltz in 5/4 with solos for flugal, euphonium and soprano cornet which leads into a slow chorale section, gradually building from p to fff . This is followed by the final section which begins with a simple sleigh bell pulse over which the Tchaikovsky Christmas favourite, Trepak from the Nutcracker Suite is merged with the God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen theme bringing A Christmas Trifle to a rousing close.
