COMPOSER: Alex McGeeThe English Electric Lightning is a British fighter aircraft that servedas aninterceptorduring the 1960s, the 1970s and into the late 1980s.It remains the only UK-designed-and-built fighter capable ofMach 2.The Lightning was designed, developed, and manufactured by English Electric,which was later absorbed by the newly-formedBritish Aircraft Corporation.Later the type was marketed as the BAC Lightning.It was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF), the Kuwait Air Force (KAF), and the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).A unique feature of the Lightning's design is the vertical, staggeredconfiguration of its twoRolls-Royce Avonturbojetengines within the fuselage.The Lightning was initially designed and developed as an interceptor to defend theV bomber airfields from attack by anticipated future nuclear-armedsupersonic Soviet bombers such as what emerged as the Tupolev Tu-22,but it was subsequently also required to intercept other bomber aircraftsuch as theTupolev Tu-16and theTupolev Tu-95.

COMPOSER: Alex McGeeA concert march for brass band dedicated to 92 SquadronNumber 92 Squadron, also known asNo. 92 (East India) Squadronand currently asNo. 92 Tactics and Training Squadron, of theRoyal Air Forceis a test and evaluation squadron based atRAF Waddington,Lincolnshire. It was formed as part of theRoyal Flying CorpsatLondon Colneyas a fighter squadron on 1 September 1917. It deployed to France in July 1918 and saw action for just four months, until the end of the war. During the conflict it flew both air superiority and direct ground support missions. It was disbanded atEilon 7 August 1919. Reformed on 10 October 1939,at Tangmere Airfield, the unit was supposed to be equipped with medium bombers but in the spring of 1940 it became one of the first RAF units to receive theSupermarine Spitfire, going on to fight in theBattle of Britain.LM372 - ISMN : 9790570003723

COMPOSER: Alex McGeeThebombing of Dresdenwas aBritish-Americanaerial bombing attackon the city ofDresden, the capital of the Germanstate ofSaxony, duringWorld War II.In four raids between 13th and 15th February 1945, 722 heavy bombers of theBritishRoyal Air Force(RAF) and 527 of theUnited States Army Air Forces(USAAF)dropped more than 3,900 tons ofhigh-explosivebombsandincendiary deviceson the city.The bombing and the resultingfirestormdestroyed more than1,600 acres (6.5km2) of the city centre.An estimated 22,700to 25,000people were killed.Three more USAAF air raids followed, two occurring on 2nd Marchaimed at the city'srailway marshalling yardand one smaller raid on 17th April aimed at industrial areas.

Originally conceived as a ceremonial work for the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment, Veni, Sancte Spiritus was written for a Thanksgiving Service at St Clement Danes Church - the Central Church of the RAF in London. This evocative piece was inspired by the church's thousand-year-old architecture and resonant acoustic, creating a soundscape that is both reverent and atmospheric. In adapting the work for brass band, the composer introduces Vaughan Williams's hymn tune Down Ampney, seamlessly woven into the final sections of the piece. This lyrical addition enhances the spiritual tone of the music, aligning perfectly with the hymn text 'Come Down, O Love Divine', and lending the work its new title and emotional depth. March Barnes Wallis was commissioned by Royal Air Force Music Services to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the famous Dambuster's raid and received its first performance on BBC Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night, broadcast live from Biggin Hill Airport on 17 June 2013 by the Central Band of the RAF, Director of Music Wing Commander Duncan Stubbs.Additional transposed parts are available to download from the website.

During the past few years, Andrew Pearce enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with Phillip Cobb, principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra, composing such works as The Maestro and Interlude for his album in 2012. Later Cobb invited Pearce to compose a slow melody, accompanied by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force for Cobb's upcoming album, displaying his softer, expressive side on flugelhorn. This song-like, warm lilting lullaby reflects on the joy of life.
