A Portrait of Paris was written for Alexis Demailly and Bastien Baumet of the Paris Brass Band. The three movements, Promenade (aux Champs-?lys?es), Sur La Seine and Tour de France, are the composer's musical impressions of some of the city's landmarks and events (with occasional references to a famous Parisian composer thrown in for good measure...)

Brass Band set including full score. The Post Horn part is provided in Ab, however a Bb trumpet part is also included in the set for greater flexiblity. In 1844, the German cornet player Hermann Koenig wrote Post Horn Gallop for Post Horn with orchestra accompaniment. Its great popularity meant that it has made its way into the brass and wind band repertoires. Ed Keeley has given it a festive twist by including motifs of Jingle Bells, Good King Wenceslas and Here We Come A-Wassailing.

The aria Senza Mamma (Without your Mother), sung in the opera by Sister Angelica, is one of the most poignant moments in any of Puccini's works, and has remained a repertoire favourite. Suor Angelica?is the second instalment in Puccini's triptych of one-act operas commonly known as Il trittico. The opera chronicles the fall, redemption, and final transfiguration of its central character, Sister Angelica, who has taken the veil in repentance for bearing a child out of wedlock. The libretto, by Giovacchino Forzano, was immediately appealing to the composer, whose sister Igenia was Mother Superior of the convent at Vicepelago. Though it contains some of Puccini's most adventurous writing (the musical language at times even flirts with polytonality) the work has not enjoyed popularity comparable to that of its companions,?Il Tabarro?and?Gianni Schicchi, each of which has enjoyed an independent life in the repertory. Behold the Power of God (2010) was written for and premiered by the Cornwall Youth Brass Band in dedication to their Musical Advisor at the time; the late Cornish composer Goff Richards who later described the work as 'a remarkable piece of writing'. The work's title, while implying a religious meaning, actually references Goff's name, with his full name Godfrey translating as 'God-peace' and Richards meaning 'Power'. Two energetic outer sections fall either side of a more lyrical middle section featuring the solo cornet. The perfect opening item at any concert.
