This leads into a recap of the opening fanfare which acts as a type of descant to short quotations from the last movement of The Year of the Dragon before reaching a thunderous finale.

A more legato central section creates a nice contrast before the work closes with the opening fanfare. A perfect affair!

Like many British marches, the main theme is written in a minor key.
