Jacob de Haan arranged the famous piece Amazing Grace for four-part variable ensemble, which may be complemented with percussion. With this instrumentation, it is possible to play the piece with almost any combination of instruments. The piece opens with the song theme, which after a modulation, flows into an intermezzo, characterized by a free interpretation of the theme. This substantial work by Jan de Haan explores the many tonal qualities of the brass band. Following a quiet opening theme based on Phrygian tonality the band bursts into life with a massive climax. Following a jolly second theme characterised by large interval jumps peace and quiet is again restored. Both themes are developed with many poignant solo figures until we reach a resounding fortissimo climax with the solo cornet performing the first theme from the back of the auditorium. Variazioni in Blue is a series of variations in which elements from the Blues, such as the specific blue notes, run throughout the piece. Following a stately introduction, which includes part of the theme, is an ornamental variation in classical style. We then hear a variation in Blues style, followed by a fast variation with an Eastern European folklore feel. The Andante con espressivo is particularly fine with its attractive harmonic changes. This variation develops into a repeat of the previous folklore variations with its major variation forming a climax towards the end.Duration: 6:30

This opener was written for the 10th anniversary of Brass Band Midden Brabant (BBMB), the composer's own band. A soft and lyrical middle section follows on the powerful opening fanfare which, if the technical equipment is available, can be used as background music for a spoken text or presentation. The finale is distinctly rhythmical in character, and develops into a somewhat unusual ending. Here, the composer piles ten different notes on top of each other, representing the BBMB anniversary in a musical way. At a later date the composer made two new versions of Signature, namely for wind band and fanfare.Duration: 3:30

The Order (founded in 1834) is a strong charitable institution whose founder members recognised their duty to help their fellow men who fell into need "as they walked through the forests of life". It had an early interest in Archery which has continued throughout the ages (It is Performance Partner for the Team GB Archery team at the 2016 Olympics).Foresters Brass Band was formed in 1959 and is now known as Foresters Brass 2000 and performance was originally restricted to Foresters Brass.

Elegy I 'Jealousy' has been named after John Donne's poem of the same name. This English poet (1572-1631) wrote an entire series of elegies, each with its own theme. Jealousy can trigger various emotions, ranging from disappointment, grief, or regret, to madness and anger. All these emotions have been incorporated into this composition. Jacob de Haan was inspired by three different works of art: a poem (the aforementioned poem by John Donne), a painting by the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch (Jealousy in the Garden) and an old French chanson about jealousy (Je ne l'ose dire) by the sixteenth-century French composer Pierre Certon. The music refers repeatedly to this chanson - sometimes through key notes from the melody that serve as the starting point for new, isolated themes and sometimes through quotations of the original version
