Disney's take on the story of Rapunzel saw veteran Disney composer, Alan Menken score the film and from it, came the hit, 'I See The Light'. A lyrical ballad, out of all the tracks produced for the film, Alan stated that this was his favourite of them all. Now arranged by Adrian Horn for solo cornet and band, this release is perfect for soloists looking to perform something popular with general audiences of all ages. With little in the way of technical difficulty, this would be a great item for younger players to enjoy. One not to be missed this Summer.

Sunday in the Park was written for tenor horn virtuoso Sheona White, and commissioned by her partner, Matt Wade, as a Christmas present.Composer Philip Sparke had known and admired Sheona's playing for many years, having produced her first solo CD and written pieces for her previously.Both composer and performer are huge fans of the late Karen Carpenter, Sheona in part modelling her sound on the singer's sultry voice; so it was decided that this new solo would be a piece which, whilst not being a 'Carpenters' pastiche, paid tribute to their relaxed style and rich harmonic language. Sunday in the Park openswith an accompanied cadenza for the soloist, which leads to a gentle rhythmic melody with a laid-back feel. This is taken up by the band but the soloist sparks a change of mood by introducing a faster light rock interlude. This reaches a climax, at which point the music unwinds until the original mood returns.A variation on the original melody leads to a short cadenza from the soloist, which brings the work to a peaceful close.

Midnight in Cairo - Steven Ponsford
Midnight in Cairo is a fun and light piece of music, suitable for anywhere in a concert. It is atmospheric in its nature, conjuring up images of the lively nightlife in the streets against the backdrop of the Nile and the other ancient wonders of this vibrant city. The music starts in a mysterious mood, with soft vocals around the band accompanying the main theme, before the piece takes off. There are solos for trombone and cornet, which will benefit from the players standing up to play, and improvising if possible.

In a moment of spontaneity, they eat a hash cake, unaware of its strength. At first,they feel relaxed and joyful-everything seems amusing and carefree. As the effects intensify,their surroundings become strange and hypnotic, and time begins to lose meaning. Suddenly,anxiety takes hold. Their thoughts race, and they swing between panic and bursts of excitement, unsure of what's real.Delusions follow-familiar things twist into unfamiliar shapes, and their sense of reality slips away. They become isolated, lost in the crowd yet completely alone. Finally, frustration erupts into rage-at themself, at the experience, at the world around them. Coffee in the Red Light is a story of innocence, altered perception, and emotional descent-a cautionary tale wrapped in surreal adventure.

Charge of the Light Brigade
Charge of the Light Brigade was commissioned by the Foden's Youth Band in 2012. It tells the story of a battle in the Crimean War, where six hundred members of the light cavalry were sent to attack an Artillery Battery. However, due to miscommunications, they were sent to the wrong Artillery Battery, past the original target. The 600 soldiers then found themselves being attacked on two sides

This bright and attractive concert overture was written while I was living in Spain and enjoying life in the sun - a rare experience for an Englishman! It is intended to be an effervescent and cheerful piece, enjoyable both to play and to listen to. There are no great technical challenges in the music but it is essential that the performers play with a firm grasp of the rhythmic nature of the piece.It opens with a bold fanfare, giving the first statement of a theme that is to be used throughout. Once the broad opening is over the music has a feeling of energy and joy that drives all the way through the piece.
