A beautiful arrangement by Tim Paton of a Welsh song by W S Gwynne Williams. Created in memory of his mother, Tim has produced a wonderful version for brass band and has also included an optional vocal solo or unison choir line.Comments from the arranger:I have arranged [My Little Welsh Home] in memory of my mother. [She] was born, Doreen Davies, on 27th November 1918, in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, a small town in South West Wales. She had a beautiful voice, and met my father, Bill Paton, during World War II, whilst she was singing in a troop concert at the County Theatre in her home town, and my father was the MC.Throughout her life, my mother and father entertained, and she was singing right up until the final months of her life. She spent many years in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, a seaside town in South West England, and it was here that she passed away on 20th September 2004. During the last several months of her life, she often referred to the song My Little Welsh Home:Here are the words.I am dreaming of the mountains of my homeOf the mountains where in childhood I would roamI have dwelt 'neath southern skiesWhere the summer never diesBut my heart is in the mountains of my homeI can see the little homestead on the hillI can hear the magic music of the RhyllThere is nothing to compareWith the love that once was thereIn the lonely little homestead on the hillI can see the quiet churchyard down belowWhere the mountain breezes wander to and froAnd when God my soul will keepIt is there I want to sleepWith those dear old folks that loved me long agoLooking at the words, I can see why it meant so much to her. Haverfordwest is at the foot of the Preseli Mountains, and her home and church were at the top of a hill. £124.95Hyperlink - Peter Graham
Hyperlink was commissioned by the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (funded by Arts Council England and the Department for Education) for its 70th Anniversary Year. Since the anniversary coincided with other significant celebrations in 2022 (including the Royal Albert Hall/Ralph Vaughan Williams 150th and the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II) it was requested that these also be recognised in some way.
Where better to begin this challenging brief but with a computer search for the NYBBGB founder Dr Denis Wright (coincidently born in Kensington, home of the RAH). The subsequent rabbit warren of hyperlinks led me to structure the work through a series of "associations":
Movement I - The Voice of Jupiter.
Alongside the discovery that Denis Wright had been a church organist was the realisation that while the RAH has hosted thousands of musical events the fabric of the building actually incorporates a musical instrument, the famous Henry Wills organ (aka The Voice of Jupiter).Organ and J S Bach are synonymous (e.g. Toccata in D min) and so both become fundamental to the content of the movement. An opening 7 note quote from the Toccata leads to a mammoth sound cluster, as if every note on the huge RAH organ is sustained. The material which follows is based upon the notes BACH (in German notation). The notes are manipulated in various ways in a 12 tone matrix; reversed, inverted and so on. Other techniques employed in the movement are ones of which Bach was master, including ground bass and fugue.
Movement II - Remember Me.
The lives of Salvationist composer Ray Steadman-Allen (born 1922) and Ralph Vaughan Williams are remembered here, with "RSA" in musical notation and fragments of RVWs famous Tuba Concerto providing the source material.While writing the movement my father passed away and to close his funeral service the family chose the uplifting Robert Lowry hymn They'll sing a welcome home. It seemed fitting to conclude the movement with a reflective setting of the chorus, the repeated phrase "Welcome, welcome home" eventually disappearing into the ether.
Movement III - Vivat.
The finale takes the form of a short fantasy upon Hubert Parry's marvellous coronation anthem I Was Glad, truly a celebratory note with which to conclude.The first performance of Hyperlink was given by the NYBBGB conducted by Martyn Brabbins at the Royal College of Music, London on August 6th 2022.

Hope is a deeply reflective and uplifting work for brass band, shaped by themes of serenity, renewal, and spiritual hope. Composer Nathanael Watchorn revisits a melody and harmonic framework originally conceived for an unrealised project - material that, even at its inception, carried the gentle strength and stillness of a benedictory chorus. Sensing its innate sense of calm and assurance, Watchorn sought to give the music new life through words that would illuminate its emotional core. Those words came from his father, Major Julian Watchorn, whose poetic text - titled Benediction: The Hope of Christ - speaks of grace, love, joy, and the sustaining power found in Christ. The verses provide a clear spiritual lens through which conductors, performers, and listeners alike can experience the music. Whether heard as a musical benediction or a stand-alone concert work, Hope provides a meaningful and deeply moving moment of stillness amid the noise of modern life. The 7 African Romances, Op. 17 for voice and piano has words by Paul Laurence Dunbar and music by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Published in 1897, it comprises of 7 songs, "An African Love Song", "A Prayer", "A Starry Night", "Dawn", "Ballad", "Over the Hills" and "How Shall I Woo Thee?", of which the last is arranged here.This arrangement was requested by Besses o' th' Barn Band for the The Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Festival held in Liverpool on 11 October 2025. The song is wonderfully lilting with moments to indulge in the music.This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band and either solo B-flat cornet, solo E-flat soprano cornet or soprano singer. It also has alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. £33.35O Holy Night (Flugel/Trumpet Solo with Band) arr. Tom Kubis trs. Dave Collins
This stunning arrangement of O Holy Night, showcases the lyrical and expressive potential of the Flugel Horn or Trumpet, arranged by acclaimed jazz composer Tom Kubis and transcribed by Dave Collins. Originally made famous by the legendary Wayne Bergeron with the Tom Kubis Big Band, this arrangement has since become a favourite among brass soloists worldwide. It received its concert premiere with the North York Temple Band (Canada) under Bandmaster Glenn Barlow, featuring the virtuosic talents of Marcus and Harrington Venables. The piece was later recorded by the International Staff Band, conducted by Dr. Stephen Cobb, on their 2016 album Celebrate the Season. The featured soloist on that recording was the world-renowned Philip Cobb. This arrangement offers flexible performance options - it can be presented as a solo feature or as a duet for Flugel Horn and Soprano Cornet (cued into the parts), making it ideal for both concert settings and festive performances. This piece was written as a full length virtuosic solo based on an earlier work called Humble Hero, which is also available from BrookWright Music. It is an extension of that work and still dedicated to Ken Bradley, designed to provide a reflection of his technical skills and a platform to emulate musicianship for which he was renowned. Ken Bradley (1962 - 2022) was one of Australia's best-known, well-loved, and talented brass musicians. The solo is also available from this website with piano accompaniment. This powerful and evocative work by Australian-New Zealand composer Fendall Hill pays tribute to the ANZAC soldiers who passed through Weymouth, Dorset during World War I. Inspired by first-hand accounts, the piece follows the emotional journey of a young soldier - from eager enlistment, through the harrowing Gallipoli campaign, to recovery and reflection in Weymouth. Structured in four movements, the music captures anticipation, fear, fierce resistance, and eventual healing, culminating in a moment of remembrance. The hymn tune Wareham -written by Dorset composer William Knapp - features prominently as a thematic thread, honouring the region's historical connection to the ANZAC legacy. A deeply moving addition to the brass band repertoire, this work is both a musical narrative and a heartfelt gesture of gratitude to the people of Dorset for their care and ongoing commemoration of the ANZACs. £40.77Allegro Spirito from Symphony No.2 (Brass Band) Borodin arr. Harold Burgmayer
Alexander Borodin's Second Symphony in B minor dates from the years 1869-76, a time when he was also working on his enduring opera Prince Igor. Flavors of the exotic and outdoor celebration seemed to have spilled over from the opera in this brilliant sonata movement. Borodin seldom quotes Russian folk tunes, but his graceful melodic lines are permeated with the spirit of his native song, supported by iridescent harmonies and bright colors. This arrangement for brass band was premiered by The Salvation Army's New York Staff Band, with Ronald Waiksnoris conducting, at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on 11 April 2001. This complete transcription of the Finale movement of Borodin's Second Symphony has an approximate duration of 6.40 minutes. To alternatively utilize the piece as an opener, a cut from bar 173 to 272 is indicated with Coda signs, reducing the piece to 4.30 seconds. £37.06A Fugal Overture (Brass Band) Gustav Holst arr. Rob Bushnell
A Fugal Overture was written in 1922 by Gustav Holst. It was first performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden on 14 May 1923 and was used as an opening work to Holst's one-act opera The Perfect Fool. It received its concert premiere on 11 October 1923 at one of Henry Wood's Queen's Hall Promenade Concerts. It is an early example of neoclassicism and was influenced by the counterpoint of J. S. Bach, despite its unconventional use of the fugal process. Holst began writing the piece in the summer of 1922, having hoped to develop it into a ballet. It is divided into three sections, the fugal subject with its distinct 3+3+2 pattern, a slower section with solos at the end, and a third section where the subject returns. Although reviews of the piece were mixed at the time of its premiere, the likes of Adrian Boult have said it was "an invigorating work that could effectively start any [...] concert". In more recent years, it has been compared to John Adam's A Short Ride in a Fast Machine. This attractive Bossa Nova-style arrangement for vocal or flugel/cornet soloist with brass band has been made by Australian composer Sam Creamer. The key is suitable for male or female vocalists, or in the absence of a vocal soloist a part has been supplied for flugel horn or cornet soloist. A piano accompaniment that matches this band arrangement is also available here and may be used as an alternate accompaniment in the absence of a full band, or can be used simultaneously by a rhythm section alongside the brass band.
