£35.00Divertimento (previously Spring's Awakening) - Andrew Duncan
This original solo for Eb Tenor Horn and brass band, composed by Andrew Duncan, has proved to be a welcome addition the solo repertoire.Written to demonstrate both the technical and lyrical sides of the Horn, the piece begins with a fast, bright (slightly Latin) section. This gives way to an expressive legato tune which, first played by the Soloist, is then taken up by the whole band. The central section, Andante, allows the soloist to really sing out and, following a short cadenza, the opening material returns to lead into an exciting Coda section.Also available for Eb Tenor Horn with piano accompaniment and F Horn with piano accompaniment.Difficulty Guide:Suitable for intermediate to advanced Tenor Horn players. Range: Low F# to high Db. (optional Bb).NB: The previous working title of Spring's Awakening has now been re-edited into this final title of Divertimento.

£30.00Eriskay Love Lilt (with brass band) - Trad
Eriskay Love Lilt is a traditional Gaelic melody from the Western Isles of Scotland, sensitively arranged here by Andrew Duncan as a cornet solo with brass band accompaniment.This arrangement was written in 2001 for Phillip McCann and was first played by him with the Hepworth Band at the 2002 Leek Music Festival in Derbyshire, England. It has also since been recorded by Eleanor Ferguson with the Whitburn Band on Reflections of Freedom.Andrew Duncan comments: The Isle of Eriskay (Eirisgeigh) lies forty miles off the North West coast of Scotland in the North Atlantic. It is a small island, only two kilometres square and lies between the larger islands of South Uist and Barra. Eriskay is one of the islands which form the archipelago known as the Western Isles or Na h-Eileanan an Air. The Eriskay Love Lilt is a hauntingly beautiful tune which is typical of the greater number of traditional Gaelic melodies in that it is largely based on the Aeolian mode, the black notes on the piano.Also available with piano accompanimentor as a solo with brass ensemble (10-piece).

Reflections of Freedom depicts the emotions and feelings of the many migrant farmers who left 19th Century Scotland to set up home and begin a new life in the 'New World'. In particular, the joys experienced on the reaping of their first harvest.Use is made of the American folk tune, Bringing in the Sheaves. Written for the US Army Brass Band in Washington DC and premiered by them in 1997.'Reflections of Freedom' was the title track on the Whitburn Band CD of the same name, recorded in 24.

This unique arrangement by Fendall Hill of Away in a Manger brings together two beloved melodies of the cherished Christmas carol, seamlessly intertwining the popular American setting known as "Mueller" with the gentle strains of "Cradle Song", the tune favoured across Britain, Ireland, and the British Commonwealth. First introduced to American audiences by James R. Murray in Dainty Songs for Little Lads and Lasses (1887), the Mueller melody - often mistakenly attributed to Martin Luther - has become the most recognised version of the carol in the United States. Complementing this is the lyrical Cradle Song, composed by William J. Kirkpatrick and published in Around the World with Christmas (1895), offering a tender counterpoint to Murray's setting. Felix Mendelssohn's stunning Choral Cantata has here been adapted to the brass band by Edward Mylechreest. A setting of Martin Luther's sacred words, this short piece is a staple of the choral canon and is widely regarded as a choral masterpiece. The hymn tune melody repeats three times throughout the piece (first from the trombones, then the horns, followed by a full band chorale), each time an emploring prayer and statement of the text. This arrangement can also be used for accompaniment to the original Chorale, remaining in the original Eb major key signature. Knowledge of the original piece will be of great benefit to the performer and conductor alike. This upbeat, foot-tapping march by Welsh composer Jonathan Mead features the two well known Welsh tunes of Aberystwyth and God Bless The Prince of Wales. Aberystwyth is set as a big bold bass solo and careful attention will need to be paid to make sure that it sounds clean and together. God Bless The Prince of Wales first appears as a traditional hymn tune, before returning in a more vibrant, lively style, with florid scalic passages for the solo cornets and euphoniums. The march was written with St David's Day in mind, although will be an appropriate addition to concert programme throughout the year as either an opener or finisher. Bring Me Sunshine was written in 1966 by composer Arthur Kent with lyrics by Sylvia Dee. It was first recorded by The Mills Brothers in 1968 on their album, My Shy Violet. In the UK, the song is synonymous with the popular comedy duo Morecambe & Wise, after it was adopted as their signature tune in their second series for the BBC in 1969. This arrangement, for brass band, is suitable for bands of third section standard and higher.

The Dreaded Groove And Hook (Score & Parts) - Simon Dobson
The Dreaded Groove and Hook is an up-tempo acid-jazz number that draws inspiration from bands like Jamiroquai and The Youngblood Brass Band. The groove in question is the main tune that is shared round the band, whilst the hook, in 'pop' terms, is the catchy bit of the song. The whole band joins in to play a huge 'riff' that acts as a chorus to the jazz-like verses.The piece was commissioned by Jason Katsikaris and The Leyland Band, who gave the first performance as part of their programme for the Brass In Concert Championships, held at The Sage, Gateshead on the 16th November 2008.
