Composer Debbie Wiseman is one of the UK's most successful female music ambassadors. Throughout the past 20 years, there are probably few people in the UK who have not heard a theme from one of Debbie's many film or television productions. Honoured in the Queen's New Year's with an MBE for services to the music and film industry, she has been awarded honorary fellowships at both the music colleges where she studied, Trinity College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. "Jubilee Gigue" was commissioned to be performed on the Georgian barge as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Inspired by the "Gigue" in Handel's original Water Music, the work has a rollicking, upbeat feel and is now newly arranged for brass band by Chris Houlding. Duration: 5.30. Deliverance is the fourth movement of the suite War of the Worlds which was commissioned by the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music Saxophone Orchestra and first performed by them in the Maeda Hall, Japan on June 29 2012, the composer conducting. The music is dedicated to Professor Shin-ichi Iwamoto. The transcription for brass band was first performed by the Brighouse & Rastrick Band, conductor David King, in the Bridgewater Hall Manchester on September 8 2012.The suite takes inspiration from the 1953 film script adaptation of the famous HG Wells novel and key scenes from the film are set as individual movements: Deliverance - survivors seek sanctuary in the Church of Santa Maria, still standing among the burning ruins of Los Angeles, and pray for deliverance from the invaders.Each movement of War of the Worlds is available separately allowing for a variety of "mini-suite" combinations eg: Movements 1,2 and 5 or 3,4 and 5 etc.

The 1971 film musical Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory starred Gene Wilder in the title role. The music was written by composer/actor Anthony Newley, with lyrics provided by Leslie Bricusse, for which it received an Oscar nomination for Original Song Score. There are several well-known songs from the film, but perhaps the most famous is Pure Imagination, which is sung by Willy Wonka as the five children and their parents enter the Chocolate Room in Wonka's factory. It has been arranged as a trombone solo and has a simple jazz-like accompaniment. Duration: 3:00

ABOUT THIS PIECE: California Dreamin' was written in 1963 while John Phillips and Michelle Phillips were living in New York. John dreamed about the song and woke Michelle up to help him write it. At the time, John and Michelle were members of the folk group The New Journeymen which later evolved into The Mamas & Papas for whom this song was their biggest hit. May 2015 saw the release of the film San Adreas directed by Brad Peyton with soundtrack by Andrew Lockington. The film featured a rendition of California Dreamin' performed by the Australian singer-songwriter Sia.
