An upbeat, fun piece which exudes positive-vibes from the outset. This original composition by Darrol Barry for brass band is a great addition to concert repertoire. A nice balance of strong rhythm, touches of featured obligato and a catchy melody.Darrol Barry composed this work in support of a charitable project, known in 2005 as Brass Band Aid. The organisation called for original compositions to be included in a follow-up CD release - Into Africato help raise funds for projects in Adet, Africa, and to build awareness of theMake Poverty History campaign. African Adventure was featured on the CD with a recording by the Black Dyke Band.Now that the original BBA projects are complete, funds raised by the titles we publish from the Brass Band Aidseries continue to support other music-related projects on a regular basis.Look and Listen (performance courtesy of Bertnes Brass 2016):

£30.00Three Pieces from Czechoslovakia - Leos Janacek
This is the music of Leos Janacek (1854-1928) - exciting, powerful, emotive, impassioned, unpredictable, and many other definitions all rolled into one! Janacek was little known in Britain until the 1960's, when the conductor Charles Macherras introduced his unique music and opera to the western audience. His orchestral Sinfonietta was an instant hit. Janacek has since been one of the featured composers in the 'Proms'.The three pieces which I have arranged for brass band are INTRODUCTION, ORGAN SOLO and INTRADA from Janacek's Glagolitic Mass. They work equally well together or on their own, as they each have their own identity. They can be purchased together or separately.1. INTRODUCTIONA great 'starter' for the first or second half of a concert. 2. ORGAN SOLOThis is a 'must' if you want to impress your audience - every section of the band is incredibly busy, (although they can be assured that they do have time to breath)! 3. INTRADAThis piece, (and no.1 "Introduction"), both contain that 'fanfare' like quality which Janacek is famous for in his Sinfonietta.

A fantastically funky piece! So good it was featured on BBC television during the 2010 general election campaign coverage for the North West and at the 2014 International Women's Brass Conference.Originally written in 2009 for Jason Katsikaris and the Leyland Band, Lucy Pankhurst has created a vivacious, energetic work which is strong on percussion and style!It's fast-moving, completely engaging and makes for compulsive toe-tapping and the need to 'get into the groove'! ABOUT THIS PIECE: 'God Put a Smile Upon Your Face' was written by all members of the band Coldplay for their second studio album 'A Rush of Blood to the Head'. Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin said: "The song came out of playing live and wanting to have something with a bit more bounce". The chart was originally released in 2003 to critical acclaim. In 2007 Mark Ronson covered the song on his album 'Version' - it is this version this arrangement is based upon. The following arrangement was devised as a concert opener - written as such to allow different sections of the band to make their way to the stage one at a time. The suggested stage entry directions for this arrangement are: Percussion > Basses > Trombones > Horns & Baritones > Cornets & Euphonium. Kit and percussion parts are written as a guide - please feel free to add and subtract as the MD sees fit. £75.00Harpe Davids - Anton Weeren
"Harpe Davids" Psalm 150, arranged for brass band in a creative and festive way. Written for the 100th anniversary of the music association Harpe Davids from the Dutch village of Ridderkerk. As the opening of a concert, this festive piece of music is certainly not out of place. The sharp brass kicks off with signals, after which the whole orchestra gives a festive response. The psalm is fully quoted in the arrangement, including the two verses, making it also suitable for congregational singing in church and worship services.

This piece was originally commissioned by Denbighshire County Council for the Ruthin Area Brass Band. The composer, Lucy Pankhurst, has further dedicated it to Dennis Williams and Ann Pritchard-Jones "for their long-standing support".This work is made up of three movements - Fanfare, Theme and March, and offers lots of melodious energy. It's very accessible scoring for lower section bands and youth bands and provides an ideal way to work original compositions into your concert programme.

£40.00Dragons' Rise - Matthew Hall
Dragons' Rise was commissioned by the Tredegar Town Band in July 2008 for their CD recording Spirit of the Valleys, to represent the band beginning their resurrection from a difficult time in the bands history back through to becoming on of the best bands in the world. It was premiered by the Tredegar Town Band at the National Eisteddfod contest in Cardiff in August 2008, performed live on national television, where the band were victorious.Dragons' Rise was the first piece composed by Matthew as the bands new composer-in-residence. Subsequent pieces have included Legends of Cyfarthfa and Nightingale Dances, both winners of the Cyril Beere award for Best New Composition at Brass in Concert, The Smile and Activate.

'Clapp!!!!' was originally written in 2006 whilst studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and was written for two players at one piano. The music uses rhythmic phasing with each rhythm assigned it's own tone cluster - as each shift in rhythm occurs the harmonic structure is altered too. Melodic passages are created through the shifts in rhythm and harmony, but these only occur within the given rhythmic parameters. The music can very much be viewed as a study in momentum, with its unrelenting pulse driving us through the music.The Brass Band version of 'Clapp!!!!' was written for Manger Musikklag and Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen, receiving its premiere at the 2010 BrassWind Festival in Bergen, Norway. The Whitburn Band featured Clapp!!!! at their 2012 Brass in Concert programme and the piece was featured by the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band on their 'Grimethorpe Entertain' CD.
