A hymn is sung to the "Great White Spirit", and the people turn their thoughts to preparations for the coming Winter.

This piece was commissioned to be performed on the Georgian barge as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Inspired by the "Gigue" (sometimes referred to as "Country Dance") in Handel's original Water Music, the piece has a rollicking, upbeat feel and is now newly arranged for brass band. The story that inspired the piece is of a pirate ship attacking the flotilla. The pirates are then confronted by the courageous defenders of the flotilla who are, of course triumphant in the end. The piece concludes with a final defiant statement of the heroic theme, and the pirates are gone forever.

Composer Debbie Wiseman is one of the UK's most successful female music ambassadors. Throughout the past 20 years, there are probably few people in the UK who have not heard a theme from one of Debbie's many film or television productions. Honoured in the Queen's New Year's with an MBE for services to the music and film industry, she has been awarded honorary fellowships at both the music colleges where she studied, Trinity College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. "Jubilee Gigue" was commissioned to be performed on the Georgian barge as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Inchcolm is an island in the Forth estuary first visited by St Columba in 567 and mentioned in Shakespeare's Macbeth. The ruins of Columba's abbey are regularly shrouded in mist and bring with it a flavour of mystery and legend. Composer and distinguished French horn player Terry Johns (Drac to his friends) was commissioned to write this work for Superbrass and their water influenced 2nd album, Brass Taps. Drac requested that he be allowed to write a solo feature with a proper tune for horn. Kingdom Brass in Scotland premiered Inchcolm in its new brass band form and the solo part is playable by either a tenor or french horn player. Duration: 5.00. Suitable for 2nd Section Bands and above.

Fire is one of the four great elements; earth, water, wind and fire, which create the universe in buddhistic aspect. Fire creates living beings, fire gives world warmth and fire can be the symbol of romance. However, fire can also destroy the world when human uses it out of their angriness, hatred and jealousy. This piece begins with the creation of the world and living beings. The slow movement in the middle of the piece defines fire as the symbol of warmth and romance. After the warm moment of fire has gone, the theme of war begins. It is caused by the misuse of fire from human which brings the world and humanity to the end. The strong ending of this piece represents the end of world and humanity.

COMPOSER: Neil LockThis descriptive piece commemorates a visit I made to Niagara Falls back in October 1984.At the beginning, the music is very quiet; the falls are a long way away! But as it progresses, the noise of the falls becomes louder and louder. The piece has three principal motifs, whichrun through most of it. Descending crochets signify the water going over the cliff, and risingquavers the spray coming back up. And the frequent discord (a major chord with anadditional 2nd) represents wetness.Right after my first sight of the falls, I see the "Maid of the Mist" boat phut-phutting outinto the stream, with horns and E flat basses on the off-beat. There is also an "Indian"war-cry in this section from the trombone, euphonium and B flat bass. Then, an extendedclimax describes my first view of the full majesty of the falls.After this climax dies away, I go up the tower near the falls. The music goes into the minorkey, and loses the discord. It isn't wet up there!In the final section, I stand close to the falls; almost close enough, it seems, to put an armin. The music becomes very loud. Twice I look aside, but when I turn back the falls are stillthere. At the end, the descending crochet motif takes over entirely, and a timpani roll isfollowed by a classic final chord.

VECTIS ISLE is the Roman name for the Isle of WrightSTATELY OSBORNEOsborne House was the summer residence of Queen Victoria. Music of fanfares and pageantry in 3/4 time, with a central delicate minuet section, before returning to the original fanfares and stately themes.PICTURESQUE CALBOURNECalbourne is a pretty, tiny country village with its feature of an old water mill. The music is pastorale in style. 6/8 rhythms with a free and easy waltz section.THE OLD CHURCH AT GODSHILLThis movement links directly from the second, but may be played on its own if desired. Godshill is a quaint but beautiful village of thatched cottages by an old church.SANDOWN HOLIDAYSThis final movement is intended to portray the happy atmosphere of this pleasant seaside resort, with just a moment or two to laze on the fine beaches under an afternoon sun before the final allegro concludes this suite.Duration 14 and a half mins
