£29.95Mozart Variations - Euphonium Solo (Brass Band - Score and Parts)
The main theme of this music comes from Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, a very well-known melody which is sometimes associated with sacred words. It is a beautiful tune which lends itself to variation treatment including these very light-hearted examples. While working on this music, the composer had the idea of incorporating references to other well-known Mozart themes, again, with a rather tongue-in-cheek approach. The result is a high-spirited, flamboyant solo that will be fun to play and to listen to.

£19.95Sanctus (From German Mass D.872) (Brass Band - Score and Parts)
Franz Schubert's so-called German Mass, D. 872 is one of his last works of sacred music and was written in 1827. The work was commissioned by Professor J P Neumann of the Polytechnic School of Vienna who provided the texts for the nine short sections. It was Neumann's idea that the work be as musically simple as possible and able to be performed by amateurs. This arrangement of the Sanctus seeks to preserve the simplicity of the original, allowing the sheer beauty of the melodic lines to have prominence.

The great 19th century Austrian composer, Anton Bruckner is most famous for his nine published symphonies and his sacred music (for organ and for voices). This motet, for unaccompanied voices, was written for Linz Cathedral where Bruckner became organist in 1855. Although this arrangement for brass band is far removed from the original, it is felt that the beauty of the music will come over in a new way.

This is a setting for brass band of one of the loveliest melodies to come from Wales. The composer was Joseph Parry while the original lyrics were written by Richard Davies and tell a poignant story of unrequited love. Nowadays the tune is often associated with other, sacred words.

Soprano Cornet Solo with Brass BandGaudete is a sacred Christmas carol, which is thought to have been composed in the 16th century, but could easily have existed as a monophonic hymn in the late medieval period. Within the lyrics, there are references to Christ, Virgin Mary, Grace, Ezekiel and Salvation.This arrangement takes the striking tune and re-works it for Soprano Cornet and band, transforming the melody in places, whilst also keeping that familiar tune in its original form. Gaudete was recorded by Steve Stewart & Cory Band in 2016, featuring on its album 'A Festival of Fanfares & Carols'.

Gaudete (meaning 'rejoice') is a sacred Christmas Carol of Latin text. As a single line melody to carry the words, is it thought to have been written in the late medieval period, with subsequent harmonies being added in the fifteenth century. The song was published in 1582 in the collection 'Piae Cantiones' - a collection of Finnish / Swedish sacred songs. This carol follows the typical structure for sacred songs at the time of its publication - a uniform series of four-line stanzas each preceded by a two-line refrain. The Latin text is a medieval song of praise about the Virgin Mary. My arrangement, whilst being something of an 'indulgence' seeks to use some musical language typical of the time of the original publication. Duration: 3.00

Rooted in the sacred stillness of a French village on Christmas Eve, this suite by Martin Cordner draws upon traditional carols that have echoed through centuries of candlelit chapels and midnight vigils. Each movement offers a window into the Nativity story: I. Mystery: Noel Nouvelet (Christmas Comes Anew) opens with modal wonder, evoking the anticipation of Christ's coming and the quiet awe of Advent. II. Cradle: Entre le boeuf et l'ane gris (Between the Ox and the Grey Donkey) rests in pastoral tenderness, where the newborn Savior lies between humble beasts, watched over by angels and the Virgin. III. Joy: Il est ne, le divin enfant (He is born, the Divine Infant) bursts forth in celebration, proclaiming the divine birth with rustic dance and jubilant praise. Together, these carols form a musical triptych - moving from mystery to intimacy to exultation. Three Carols at Midnight invites listeners to step into the hush of a French Noel, where the sacred story is told not only in word, but in melody, memory, and light. £33.34All Your Anxiety (Brass Band) Edward Joy arr. Jonathan Rowsell
All Your Anxiety is a reflective and expressive work for brass band inspired by Edward Joy's sacred song of the same name. Drawing deeply from the hymn's text and message, the piece explores the tension between human unease and the promise of peace found in faith. The work opens with a distinctive eighth-note figure in the euphonium that immediately establishes an unsettled character. Wide intervallic leaps and atypical slur groupings evoke a sense of fragility and uncertainty, musically portraying the weight of sorrow and care described in the opening verse of the hymn. This motivic material becomes the foundation of the entire arrangement, reappearing in varied forms as counter-melody, accompaniment, and featured solo lines across the ensemble. As the piece unfolds, the music gradually broadens and warms, reflecting the invitation of the text to "come to the cross" and leave one's burdens behind. Moments of lyricism and calm contrast with the earlier unease, leading toward a more settled and hopeful conclusion that mirrors the refrain's assurance: "Never a burden He cannot bear, never a friend like Jesus."
