Conzensus (Brass Band - Score and Parts)

This stately concert opener was originally written by Jan Van der Roost for a special event in which six respected wind orchestras (two Belgian and four Dutch) of different composition (two symphonic bands, two fanfare bands and two brass bands) were featured during six concerts. Each evening brought forth a performance by a symphonic band, a fanfare, and brass band, so that the audience could experience all three types of ensembles. This was indeed an original concept. The name, ConZEnSus, comes from a combination of the words, 'Concert Cyclus' (concert series) and 'zes' (Dutch for 'six'). This leads to a new word, which refers to 'consensus'. The general tenor of the cycle is thus immediately indicated. The richness of color of the various ensembles is revealed through an open and friendly atmosphere. During all six concerts (over a span of three years), ConZEnSus functioned as a permanent opening number for each orchestra. Thus the same musical story was portrayed in three different packages. 02:33

Brass Quintet No. 1 - Andrew Stevenson

Brass Quintet No. 1 was written for the Ewald Brass Quintet, a group of first year musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music. The piece is in three movements in the typical fast-slow-fast structure. The first movement is the hardest of the 3, the quick tempo and multiple time changes make the music tricky but very exciting. The second movement is a slow melodic movement, packed with emotion and opportunities for ensembles to add their own musicality to it.The third movement goes through many different styles and gives every player a chance to show their technical abilities and melodic playing.

Brilliant Beatles (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Schaars, Peter Kleine

There have been many arrangements of Beatles' songs for various kinds of ensembles, so rather than just producing a further medley of Beatles' hits, Peter Kleine Schaars has added a new twist to them with this excellent new work. All You Need Is Love and With a Little Help from my Friends pass by in a swing march, Michelle sounds like a newly composed ballad and When I'm Sixty Four is played in Dixie swing style. A Hard Day's Night is transformed into a funk theme with a samba interlude, Let It Be into a slow march, and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da in a rock beat. Experience The Beatles as you have never heard them before.Duration: 7:00.

Fanfare For Celebration - Keiron Anderson

The original wind band version of Fanfare for a Celebration was written for the wind band of Dartington Summer School, under the direction of Paul Dummer. I created this brass version for Regent Brass Band in 2014 under the direction of Paul Archibald. I've also written versions for other brass ensembles which have been used at English Brass Academy courses. It is intended to be a short, exuberant celebration piece of moderate difficulty.

    Fantasia on themes by Purcell

Music for Brass Band Duration: 8:30 Minutes Percussion: 3 PlayersTimps, Side Drum, Tam-tam and Crash CymbalsIan ShepherdIan Shepherd is the principal tuba of the Band of the Grenadier Guards. As an arranger and composer for brass ensembles, his works have been performed as far afield as China, Korea and Japan as well as closer to home. His arrangements have also been performed on the BBC Radio 3's "In Tune" program and at the Ryedale Music Festival in Yorkshire. Recently he has been commissioned by the brass ensemble of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has composed fanfares to announce the arrival of Her Majesty the Queen at important state occasions including the service of the Royal Victorian Order in St. George's Chapel Windsor Castle and the ANZAC memorial service in Westminster Abbey.FantasiaFantasia consists of three distinct sections that use thematic material from three separate pieces by Henry Purcell. The first section is based on the march from Funeral Music for Queen Mary which is dramatically dark and powerful but also uplifting. The Second section uses the devastatingly beautiful aria Dido's Lament or When I am laid in earth from the opera Dido and Aeneas as its basis and builds to enormous proportions, unlike the original aria. The third section begins with a haunting reference to the Rondo from Abdelazer. Gradually, this builds towards an exciting re-statement of the theme in the first section to the finale.

Uptown Funk! - Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars - Dave Collins

Brass Bands are amongst the most versatile of instrumental ensembles. With that, comes this showcase of a piece that held its place at No.1 in the charts for 14 consecutive weeks and was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards. Following some legal matters that needed clearing up concerning the writing credits on the original single, bands have been unable to purchase this title, until now! Full of energy and life, this really is the piece for your next concert programme if you want to grab your audience’s attention and be a real hit with the younger generation.
