The lyrics is translated by Bjarte Hjelmeland and the song performed by, among others, Norwegian singer Ingebjorg Bratland. The English version is also widely covered, notably by Adele. The lyrics is a tribute to love, and the song is a popular song for weddings. Watch balance all times, both regarding foreground/background and within instrument groups. The piece is in soft and middle soft dynamics. Make sure that it is not too loud, while maintaining marked dynamic variations.

New London Pictures represents elements of London in the 21st Century. The Millennium Bridge describes the pedestrian's journey across this wonderful new landmark bridge over the Thames,starting at the imposing Tate Modern, crossing the busy river, and onwards to St. Paul's Cathedral with its bells ringing out over the great city. London Eye is an incredibly large ferris wheel situated onthe South Bank of the River Thames. This movement depicts a 'flight' on this riverside wheel, at the top of which the panoramic view of London is breath-taking and the expanse of the music is a suitable depiction oftheview. As with all modern cities, London is over-crowded with motor vehicles. London is the first major city in Europe to adopt a Congestion Charge, and this piece (with its stop and go traffic lights) is both racyand comical. The Star and a Rose is a big-scale Christmas piece for band, featuring four seasonal chorales.The first is a Gregorian-like chant Hodie Christus natus est.In this section of the piece, a soloist can be placed away from the band, maybe on a gallery. The soloist can be a tenor instrument, maybe trombone, or you can feature a vocal soloist.After this, the music leads us on to the old German Christmas chorale Lo, how a rose e'er blooming. This song is given a fairly rhythmical treatment, but make sure that the melody is presented in a cantabile style.An interlude follows, before the piece presents one of the most used and loved Scandinavian Christmas chorales, Mitt hjerte alltid vanker (My Heart will always wander), composed by the Danish bishop Hans Adolph Brorson around 1732. This song is building towards a climax, before the solo horn brings it all down to the Stable view described in the lyrics.Then comes a transition that brings us in to the final section of the piece, which presents the international Christmas Carol Adeste Fideles. As many will notice, I have borrowed a section from David Wilcocks majestic harmonization towards the end.The title of the piece has its background form the lyrics in My heart will always wander, where the text speaks about the stars in the sky. But also in the latin text for Adeste Fideles:Stella duce, Magi, Christum adorantesThe Rose is of course from the lyrics in the chorale Lo, how a Rose.

"Amalies Christmas" is a Norwegian TV series for children, produced by NRK in 1995, and broadcasted again in 19976, and in 2000.The program consisted of 24 episodes, and follows Amalie Wang (Anne Marie Ottesen) making preperations forChristmas in an old house where there lived goblins. The program was the first of many to follow, based on the author Gudny I. Hagens characters. The music is composed by Philip A. Kruse, and all episodes ended with the goblin family (HaraldHeide-Steen jr., Brit Elisabeth Haagensli og Pia Borgli) singing "Lullaby for small goblins".This arrangement for young concert band may be performed with different instrumental soloist or vocalist.Chords are included for piano/guitar. It isimportant to focus on the dynamics and the tempo. The soloist must be heard clearly and adding a choir in the refrains makes it even nicer. It is a melodic song that suits being performed in churches and rooms with ambience. The song is often usedaround Christmas time, but it is written as a small lullaby that can be played anytime.

Shalom Chaverim is an ancient Hebrew (farewell)song, which was originally sung at the end of a celebration or meeting. It was and is mostly sung as a round. Freely translated the words mean "Goodbye, friends, goodbye and see you again!". The varying moods at a parting have been captured very well by Andreas Schulte in his arrangement 'Variations on Shalom Chaverim'. The composer himself says about the song, 'Although the melody is in a minor key, the overall atmosphere in the song is positive. one wishes each other all the best. Saying goodbye, however, also hurts. When you slow down the pace of the melody and add 'blue notes' in the harmonies, this can be sensed immediately.'Schulte refers here to the first variation. The second variation is very intense with possibly even deeper-felt emotions. 'Variations on Shalom Chaverim' ends on a cheerful and positive note, in fast tempo, and with oriental elements in the melody: 'L'hitra'ot, Shalom' (See you again, and farewell!).

The source of inspiration for this composition was the so-called 'genetic code'. Something which is universal, as almost all organisms on our planet use the same code for their genetic information and therefore speak the same 'language', as it were. The fact that plants, animals, and humans are all subject to the universality of this code fascinates the composer time and time again. Thus, he has chosen a musical motif for this phenomenon, which has been woven through the various musical passages of this work like a genetic thread.Genetic Code was commissioned by the Swiss Brass Band Association to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Brass Band Championships, in 2025, and to be the compulsory piece in the Excellence Division that same year.

Three Gentle Giantswas commissioned by Grenland International Brass Festival as a test piece for the 2nd division in 2008.Three Gentle Giants. The three giants each have their own monologue which leads into a conversation. They gather recognition and respect from each others views as the dialogue evolves. Eventually they find a more nutual and singular expression to their conversation.The giants are old with a long life behind them. This can be heard through a slow, melancholic waltz. A waltz is dance commonly linked to festiveoccasions, such as weddings, but for the giants it holds much more significance. It gives room to think about people they have met, placesthey have been, and all that life has given them.Quietly it ends, more or less like it began. This is an arrangement which has to be performed a bit humorous in the spirit of the original.It starts with a kazoo-like opening, played on the mouthpieces. At C, baritones and euphoniums should stand up. Maybe the musicians can play it by heart?Two bars before D, the tempo increase. On E, the cornet players should stand (and play by heart)?New, even higher tempo two bars before F. The trombonists should stand up in bar 103 to prepare for a terrific tempo. But G will be played like a laidback reggae-version. Flugelhorn and horns can stand up simultaneous with the glissando in bar 120.The tempo at H should be high and fresh and with several sections standing. In bar 158 should almost all players sit. At bar 160 everyone should stand up.In bar 162, all players should turn to the audience during the crescendo.
