Stephen Bulla's 'Caelum Corona' ('Crown of Heaven') portrays, in sound, a Christian's walk in faith, intended metaphorically via a musical narrative reminiscent of the early church pilgrims, their struggles and triumphs. The composer initially evokes the atmosphere of Rome at the time of St. Paul and other martyrs, thus the Latin title. Bulla marks his imaginative tone poem with dark, brooding music in the first two of three parts, in each of which he has embedded an appropriate hymn or song reference as thematic material.

Joy Through The Ages (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Evans, Howard J.
This work was written for the 125th anniversary of Boscombe Band, celebrated in November 2011, and is the title track of the band' album released in the same year. The music is celebratory in nature and is dedicated to all those who have served in the band during its 125 year history. The theme of the work is a song by Charles Hutchison Gabriel which was the favourite of the band's librarian, Gerald Whittingham, who was 'promoted to Glory' after a long battle with a brain tumour. The title comes from the last verse, 'When with the ransomed in Glory, his face I at last shall see, 'twill be my joy through the ages, to sing of his love for me'.

This march was written at the request of the then Chief of the Staff, Commissioner Arnold Brown for the welcome meeting of the 1974 High Council, a gathering of The Salvation Army's top leaders from around the world who meet to elect a new General. The scintillating music is filled with many wonderful and surprising shifts of key, rhythm and instrumental colour. Evangeline Booth's song 'The world for God' provides the international reference while at the trio's peak, the composer joins three tunes in impressive counterpoint; 'We're the Army' (cornets), 'A Robe of White' (horns and baritones) and 'Bound for Canaan's Shore' (trombones). The march ends with a dazzling shift into triple time and an impressive molto allargando codetta.

From a didactic point of view it is a suitable work to teach musicians something about the structure in music. For this purpose not only the big structure but also the small structure was kept very clear.Western Girl: A girl from the west of the USA rides her horse across the prairie, dreaming of her future. The rough structure: introduction - theme in a blues scale - the same thing in a different instrumentation - finale.Just a ballad: A ballad in pop style with a rough A-B-A form. First there is the introduction of the main theme (A), then follows a tenor melody in minor with a rhythmical reference to the main theme (B). Finally there is the main melody, performed tutti with a different rhythm in the drums (A').Play the Game: An English saying meaning: play fairly. Playful music in up-tempo with a wink to China, where almost all games are manufactured nowadays. Once again an A-B-A structure here.San Diego: A Mexican fugitive enjoys his freedom in America but also remembers his place of birth with melancholy. A sad minor melody with a straight trendy beat appears twice. The second time it has a slightly different instrumentation, in which the muted trumpets represent the Mexican feeling.Final Dance: Eventually there is a dance with an introduction in renaissance style, followed by a fast dance in rock style. Game Of Thrones - Ramin Djawadi - Len Jenkins
"Game of Thrones" is an American fantasy drama television series based on George Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" and has received widespread acclaim by critics, although its use of nudity and violence has caused controversy. Filmed in Belfast and on location elsewhere in Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia, Iceland, and Morocco, it premiered in 2011 and continues into a fourth season in 2014. The series interweaves several plot lines and through its morally ambiguous characters, explores the issues of social hierarchy, religion, loyalty, corruption, sexuality, civil war, crime, and punishment. It is set in a period that contains elements from the dark ages through to the medieval. The music for the series was composed by Ramin Djawadi and is noted for its popular main theme which is presented here as an arrangement for Brass Band. In keeping with the period depicted, the piece contains a significant contribution from the percussion section and care has been taken to achieve the desired effect with the normal resources of the average band.

The Tricorn - Len Jenkins - Len Jenkins
The Tricorn is a style of three-cornered hat from Europe in the 18th century, generally referred to as a 'cocked hat' in Britain and popular in America at the time of the War of Independence. It may still be seen on ceremonial occasions as part of the town-cryer's dress in England and features in a popular German song for children 'Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken'. However, in the case of this music, the reference is to the cornet section and the requirement for triple-tonguing on the Eb Soprano cornet. Whilst ostensibly a concert march in style, its jaunty rhythm makes you want to stride along and it may therefore be used as a 'road march' as well. Pressure on the Soprano cornetist as a soloist is reduced by adding the Solo Cornets to the melody line in the 'road march' version. With this in mind, we supply the music in both A4 (concert) and A5 (march-card) sizes as a package.
