At this point of the story, Simba stares up into the night sky and the stars appear to form the face of his late father Mufasa who remind him of his place in the great Circle of Life and encourages him to return to the Pride Lands from which he fled as a young cub.

VIEW SCORE PDF Nocturne for Brass Band & Percussion: The Lady with the Lamp was composed for the BrookWright International Brass Band Composer Competition 2020, the work later going on to be a finalist in the competition. The music celebrates the life and achievements of Florence Nightingale on the 200th anniversary of her birth. The work is structured in ternary form and is designed to be an engaging concert piece, accessible to both lower and upper section bands. Minimal percussion has been used and ossia passages have been added to accommodate all levels. The music imagines Miss Nightingale walking the wards at night with the contrasting sections representing her devotion to the care of others, the struggles and sacrifice of her service, and the lasting effect of her renowned achievements that are still felt to this day. Mozart's The Magic Flute is a two-act opera composed in 1791, the year of his death. It was the culmination of a period of increasing involvement by Mozart with Emmanuel Schikaneder's theatrical troupe, which since 1789 had been the resident company at the Theater auf der Wieden. The Magic Flute is noted for its prominent Masonic elements; both Schikaneder and Mozart were believed to be Masons and also lodge brothers. Much of Mozart's Masonic music is written in the key of E flat. This key, with 3 flats is indicative of Masonic symbolism. There are other examples of the number three in the opera as well. The opening chords of the introduction sound three times, which also happens during the Temple scenes. Also represented in threes are the three temples of Wisdom, Reason and Nature. Tamino tries to open the three doors of the temple. There are three ladies, the attendants to the Queen of the Night, and three boys who serve as guides to Tamino and Papageno. Duration: 6:30

FESTIVE INTRADAThis is a lively opener using the well know Christmas tunes of Silent Night and O Come, All Ye FaithfulAfter a bright opening, Silent Night comes in at letter B from Solo Cornets and Soprano followed by the Horns and back to the Cornets. This leads into a brief reference to O Come, All Ye Faithful from the Trombones before the full tune appears at letter C. Care with the syncopated rhythms to ensure the momentum is maintained. As the piece concludes, Silent Night returns, with a bar of Deck the Halls thrown in for good measure leading to a bright ending.
