REPTON FANTASY,A (Cornet Solo/Brass Band) - Sparke, Philip

(Dear Lord and Father of Mankind) Sir Hubert Parry (1848-1918) belongs to a forgotten generation of English composers who are often over-shadowed by Sir Edward Elgar, and the result has been that much of their work is little played or forgotten. In Parry's case, he is now mostly remembered for his hymn tunes, such as Jerusalem and Repton, both marvellous melodies, of course. The latter first appeared in Parry's oratorio Judith and was adapted as a hymn tune after the composer's death. Duration: 3:00 Recorded on Polyphoic Brass Band CD QPRL236D My Heroes

POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE MARCH No.2 (Brass Band) - Littlemore, Phillip

Following the spectacular success of his Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1, which received over 100 performances in its first year, it was almost inevitable that Elgar would write a second. However, what is not commonly known is that the initial sketches for what was to become thePomp & Circumstance March No. 2were written first! Due to the successes of the first march, not least because it now features at every Prom concert, it is forgotten that not only did Elgar submit the manuscript for both marches to his publisher at the same time, but both marches were premiered at the same concert and both performed a few days later at the same Promenade Concert. Memories of a Lost Boy - Ben Hollings

Commissioned by Dr. Robert Childs for Foden's Band's ‘Celebration of Youth' Brass in Concert 2017 programme, Memories of a Lost Boy takes its inspiration from J.M Barrie's fictional character - the epitome of eternal youth - Peter Pan.Peter is a free spirit who can fly and never grows up. In Hook, he flies away to Kensington Gardens, only to return and find that his parents have forgotten about him and have had another child. Peter becomes the leader of the Lost Boys, a band of boys who were lost by their parents and came to live on the mythical island of Neverland.Scottish Novelist and playwright, J.M. Barrie, created Peter's character based on his older brother, David, who died in an ice-skating accident the day before his 14th birthday. His mother and brother thought of him as forever a boy.Memories of a Lost Boy can be heard on Flowers Band's 2018 CD release: Celebrate - 50 Years of Flowers.
