Originally written for the Melbourne Staff Band's tour of the UK in 1978 and, more specifically, their participation in The Salvation Army International Congress in London, the music expresses the quintessence of Australian Salvationism. The five sections are; 1. An original theme expressing the immensity of the Australian continent. 2. Australia's sons, let us rejoice representing the character of the people. 3. Glory, glory, glory hallelijah from the song The Christian Mission. 4. A meditative setting of At Thy feet I bow adoring, written by two Australian Salvationists. 5. A development of the previous themes bringing the work to its climactic conclusion.

Ralph Vaughan Williams' Tuba Concerto was written in 1953/4 in response to an invitation to compose a work for the Golden Jubilee of the London Symphony Orchestra. Vaughan Williams was by then in his eighty-second year. The lively, outer movements both conclude with extended cadenzas, while the beautifully lyrical Romanza is Vaughan Williams at his best. Phillip Littlemore's brass band arrangement is a welcome addition to the brass band repertoire. Suitable for Championship Section Bands. Duration: 15.00

Between the Moon and Mexico was composed for the 1998 Finals of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. The first performance took place at the Royal Albert Hall, London, on the 17th of October.The title has no hidden meaning and was chosen preciesly because it would not predetermine the style or form of the work. The composer wanted to see what sort of piece would emerge if the only influence was what had already been written. The result is a sort of musical collage in which various musical collage in which various musical elements, ranging from two or three notes to complete melodies, assume importance by virtue of their context. In a way, the piece grew out of itself.Duration: 16.30

Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1?was completed in July 1901 although the 'big tune' actually dates from earlier in that same year. It was premiered in Liverpool by its dedicatees, the Liverpool Orchestral Society, on the 19th October. It was repeated in London a few days later by Henry Wood at the Promenade concerts and the result was sensational, the audience roared its applause, and refused to allow the concert to continue. In order to restore order, Wood conducted the march three times - the only time in the history of the Promenade concerts that an orchestral item was accorded a double encore in Wood's lifetime. Freaks! was written for Lisa Sarasini in 2006 and first performed by her with Zone One Brass at the Royal College of Music, London. This tuneful and flamboyant showpiece was inspired by the Tod Browning film of the same name. The 1932 black and white cult classic was banned for many years due to its controversial morality issues and lead characters - real life side show 'freaks'. It is one of the most bizarre things to have ever come out of Hollywood. Gavin Higgins' virtuoso trombone solo is programmatic in style, full of humour with a sinister undercurrent, and is broken into seven short scenes: Introduction; Roll up...
