The source of inspiration for Thailand Impressions was a trip that the composer made to the magnificent country of Thailand. The three movements reflect the many different aspects of this fascinating part of the world including Bangkok - both modern and antique, Buddhist temples and the infamous Burma railway.

That's the Spirit! Is a fun and challenging work that is a great flashy opening to concert programs, for youth orchestras and smaller bands. The driving drum and percussion groove provides a solid rhythmic base. The various wind sections of the band deliver both impressive themes but also more subtle melodic lines.

For many years Peter Kleine Schaars' jazz quartet provided sparkle and energy for various festivities and other occasions. If required the ensemble could alternate jazz repertoire with pop and latin music too. Their wide experience taught the musicians that an hour of unbeatable repertoire is the perfect end to every swinging party. Based on this practical knowledge Kleine Schaars has chosen his favourite pop pieces and arranged them in this animated medley entitled That's the Way (I like Them).
